Paul Miller vacationing in Denver with daughter Carolyn and her husband Larry Cline enjoyed skiing at Loveland Pass after insufficient snow at Vail. He returned home to Rittman uninjured while others suffered leg injuries.
The Rittman Fire Department hosts an annual Christmas Party for local children Friday December 17 at 7 p.m. Santa will distribute goodie boxes. Sponsored by the Fire Department Alcoholics Anonymous and the Chamber of Commerce. The Ladies Auxiliary still collects toys with drop-off at the fire station that evening.

Michael R. Wood 23 died after a brother in law’s shotgun discharged as they crossed a fence while hunting in Chippewa Township near County Road 5 A in Wayne County. A 1972 Doylestown graduate, he played bass and sang for the Wood Brothers and worked at Apple Creek State Institute. Surviving are his wife Dale two infant children his parents Homer and wife three sisters and a brother, all of Rittman. Funeral was held in Doylestown at Monbarren Funeral Home.
Santa Claus visited the nursery at 77 Sunset Lanes Thursday after the Parent Teacher Organization bowling session. Sam Genovese of PCA spoke with the good boys and girls while their mothers bowled, with Mr and Mrs Staley the nursery babysitters pictured with Santa and the children.
The community forms a relief fund for Ron Valentine and Billi Pelfrey and their families after the officers were dismissed in October. Six Valentine children aged 10 to 20 and four Pelfrey children from seven to two months rely on donations via Jim Foster at 145 Maplewood Ave. in Rittman or by calling 925-3811 for details.
Christmas Concert featuring the Concert Band and choral groups will be held Sunday at 3 p.m. at Rittman Middle School. The Concert Band led by Chris Hall performs multiple selections. Prep Choir and Combined Choirs offer several carols and arrangements with soloists and flute players. Continued on Page 2.
Rotary Club gathers at United Methodist Church at noon for a choral program directed by Mrs. Carolyn Warren. Rittman Freshman basketball visits Northwestern at 4 30 p m and girls Brunswick play at 6 p m. Jacqees collects canned goods door to door from 6 30 to 8 30.
Packaging Corporation of America releases promotions in its Paperboard Products Division. Bernard F. Goodyear becomes National Accounts Representative for Folding Carton Plants, with prior roles in Sales and Production Control. Bradley R. Mack is Area II Sales Manager overseeing non National Accounts in the Mideastern Area, and Paul Wrigley is named Sales Representative handling major Folding Carton Accounts. Byron Woehler becomes Sales Service Manager at Rittman Plant, Levy E. Roberts is Production Control Manager responsible for Carton Estimating and Scheduling, and each executive's family is listed with residence addresses in Ohio.
The Rittman Exempted Village School District released its first annual report for 1975-76 detailing cost per student at 1074.06 dollars. Funding came from 54.9 percent local taxes, 41.9 percent state aid, and 3.5 percent federal and other sources, plus an additional 129.35 dollars per pupil for bond payments and equipment. The district lists 78 classroom teachers, nine special resource teachers, and 96 administrative and pupil personnel staff among the workforce.
Senior Tim Fetter of Rittman earned honorable mention on the UPI All-Ohio Class AA team and had been first team in the All Wayne County League. Ohio Football News also lists him as the eighth leading receiver statewide across all classifications.
Higy’s Drive-Thru at 163 E. Ohio Ave. has landed a contract for an Ohio state liquor store distributorship. Delivery is due this week or next, with a grand opening planned for Friday December 17. Hours are Monday to Friday from 10 a.m. to 1 a.m.
Ginny's Tropical Fish Store will close Friday December 31. The store offers up to 50 percent savings on items. After closing Ginny will continue to groom dogs at her home contact 925-4621.
Mayor Ashton Hall fined Terry R. Bellamy of Rittman 85 dollars plus 24 in costs for two counts of disorderly conduct and one count of unsafe vehicle. Shirley A. Ashbrook and Darrel P. Justice, both of Rittman, forfeited 20 and 40 respectively for speeding. Henry L. Moser of Rittman received a suspended 20 dollar fine and 10 in costs for a right-of-way charge. John S. Moore 22, Gary Morrison 27, Landon Walker 34, and Chester Rufener 26 all forfeited speeding fines. James Copley was fined 0 with 7 in costs and 3 days in jail.
