Funeral services held Thursday for Mary Frey 20 wife of Russell W Frey publisher of the Rittman Press Born in Dalton to Guy M Rudy and Louisa Jane King. She lived seven years in Rittman and belonged to Milton Presbyterian Church active in women’s groups and DAR Eastern Star and Delphian Society. She was a registered nurse trained at Massillon City Hospital and served as a civilian defense plane spotter. Survived by husband three daughters Dorothy Alexander Elizabeth and Margaret Frey a grandson Douglas Alexander her father Guy M Rudy of Dalton and sister Mrs Maude Motz Akron Interment in Dalton Cemetery.

Funeral services held for John Kinsey 30 in Rittman
John Kinsey 30 of Kin Ave died Saturday morning in Monroe County of a heart attack while hunting on his father’s farm near Lower Salem. He taught sixth grade at Rittman schools and served in the Navy during World War II. He is survived by wife Virginia Landis, two daughters Karen and Debra, a son Thomas, his father Hiram, eight sisters, and was buried in Paradise Church of the Brethren cemetery.

Harley D Boling 65 of 257 Sterling Ave died Tuesday after a lingering illness following a stroke Sunday. Born Nashville Ohio Holmes County he lived in Rittman 45 years. He worked 40 years at Ohio and Morton Salt retiring as millwright foreman in April. Survived by wife Clara son Dale two sisters Maude Jeffras Sadie Battles and brothers Charley Walter. Funeral Friday 2 p.m. Gillman Funeral Home officiated by Rev J W Plummer burial in Rittman cemetery. Friends may call Thursday evening and Friday morning.

A women’s volunteer group prepared Christmas boxes for thirty Rittman families. Each box contained food toys and clothing tailored to the needs of the recipient families funded by local citizens and merchants. The effort involved community leaders and welfare sources with donations covering meat produce and trees. The Rittman grade school basketball team, the BGs, opened the 1955-56 season with win number one and a 12 game win streak over two years.
