Fifth Grade Girl Scouts plan a Christmas party for Monday December 19 at City Hall. Karen Bodager’s Patrol handles refreshments, Mary Alice Grant’s Patrol entertainment, and Sandra Kohler’s Patrol decorations. They finished a knitting project and sang carols with Leader Shirley Gwaltney.
Virgil Whims son of Mr and Mrs Lloyd Whims 116 West Hill was driving on Ohio Ave Wednesday night and struck Jamie Black s parked car in front of the Black residence Whims said a dog ran in front of him and in swerving to avoid it he hit the Black car Chief Heffelman stated Whims has only a temporary driving permit and will appear before Judge Brenneman Friday The right front of the Whims car and the rear left side and back of the Black car were badly damaged
Wayne Darby a lifelong Rittman resident died last Sunday after an extended illness He leaves his wife Edna a young daughter Hazel Ann a step father Harry Doty and a grandfather George Spearing Funeral services were at United Brethren Church Wednesday at 1 30 p m Rev D K Freymeyer officiated and burial followed in Rittman Cemetery

Mayor elect Bud Hoover and Officer Merle Heffelman clashed over campaign promises sanitation and punch boards as council debated Heffelman's permanent appointment and trailer sanitation on N Main. A state health letter spurred action on properties 258 and 260 as nuisances while talks on a new sub station and a traffic exit progressed.
Bryce Browning of the Muskingum Conservancy District told Rittman Rotary Club that a revived plan to build a reservoir north of Rittman could boost city water resources. He noted prewar survey work by I Gena and cited drought relief from district reservoirs and recreation benefits.
Rev. D R Bennett of the First Baptist Church resigns as minister effective last Wednesday night. The church has not secured a new minister and plans for the future are not yet complete.
Lions Club met Monday evening at the Legion Home. Program leader Raymond Snyder presented Leslie Barrett who demonstrated making Xmas wreaths corsages and table centerpieces. John Baldwin will lead the Christmas party program and ladies night on Friday, Dec 19.
