Donated Birds Expand City Park Menagerie
Rittman central park menagerie grew with two new birds from local businessmen. A $75 Peacock from the Gross Pheasantry at Reinholds Pennsylvania and a $25 Lady Amherst pheasant joined the cage, with Golden Pheasants donated by Alpheus Goffinet. Homer Moore led purchases. other donors included Clyde Ambrose John Fretwell and Ralph Overholt among several. The Peacock, once escaped, had wings clipped to prevent recurrence.

Leslie Hughes 74 of Rittman Ohio died Tuesday after a three month illness. He is survived by his wife Esther two daughters Mrs Joseph Walters of Rittman and Mrs Byron McMillen of Wadsworth a son Edward of Sterling three brothers William Albert Carl and two sisters Mrs Grace Browser and Mrs Elsie Connor all of Pennsylvania. Services will be Friday at 2 pm at the Rittman Church of God with Rev Albert Henry officiating Burial will be in the Rittman Cemetery Friends may call at the Wm J Schlup funeral chapel Akron. Body will lie in state at the Rittman Church of God Friday after 10 am until service time. He had lived in Rittman 23 years and worked 22 years for the Ohio Boxbeara Company. He was a member of the Rittman Church of God.

Dry Planning Commission and the Chamber of Commerce were asked by Congressman John McSweeney to study site options for the new Rittman post office.
