Lights add final touch to season in Rittman area
The holiday display lit up Rittman and nearby towns with the Chamber of Commerce supervising the effort. Decorations including strings of lights, evergreen bows, and ornaments adorned the business districts and town square. The Decorating Service Co of Columbus erected the displays. Creston and Doylestown also showcased impressive festive scenes, with Doylestown described as looking like a giant Christmas tree from Route 5 hill.

New well to boost Rittman water supply in January
Rittman prepares a new water well under Board of Public Affairs member Lewis Burnett. The well house is complete, equipment arriving this month, and installation will finish by year end. Located near River Styx off Industrial St, it will operate at about 50 percent capacity, pumping up to 400 gallons per minute if needed as the town plans for growth and emergencies. The project began four years ago under El Musser with state approval in 1957, and water from the new well will be dominated per state ruling. The existing wells will continue to be used as needed.

Annual Christmas party sponsored by the Rittman Recreation Advisory Council will be held on December 20. Santa Claus will greet children age 12 and under at the Fire Station at 6:30 PM and distribution of a Christmas treat will follow. Tickets will be available at local grade schools and at the Fire Station for non school children. parents may pick up preschool tickets at the event. The party, Halloween, and Easter Eye Hunt are organized by a council of 20 local clubs and organizations including Entre Nous, Three Arts, Chamber of Commerce, Mothers Club, Rotary, Grandmothers Club, PTA, and more. The council and firemen will meet December 19 at 7 PM at Diversion Hall to pack boxes.
