Indians Take Two In Tight Contests
Rittman opened the 1971-72 season with two close wins in Wayne County League play. The Indians, led by 6'5" Boyd Breece and 6'8" Dave Jordan, barely held off Hillsdale 57-56 after a late rally and then beat Cloverleaf 56-47 in the new Rittman gym. Strong inside play and foul trouble shaped both games as Hillsdale’s Hindelang and Cloverleaf’s Crislip faced mounting pressure. Lonnie Browne sparked Hillsdale’ comeback with 10 points, while Breece answered late to seal the Hillsdale victory. In the Clo verleaf game, Ullman and Jordan anchored the boards as Rittman pulled away in the second half.
