Friday Day of Fun Climaxes Rittman Recreation Park

A field day of games with prizes will climax the 1955 Rittman Recreation Park program Friday starting at 1 30 at the football field. The general public is invited. Activities include 3 legged and sack races with participation open to all children of Rittman. Directed by Lyan Castor recreation director and Mrs Jares Black park recreation supervisor. Free.

Cleveland Divers To Star In Sunday Water Show At Pool

The Rittman Pool hosts a Sunday 8 pm water show announced by recreation director Lynn Castor. Ohio vaudeville style features Austin Bush of Cleveland the YMCA fancy diving champion, plus a clown-diver duo and the Bick Gormean Water Ballet from Cleveland with three boys and three girls. No admission is charged and the public is invited.

Doylestown Legion Post 407 Earns National Citation

D W M D Post No 407 of the American Legion in Doylestown was cited by National Headquarters in Indianapolis for outstanding service to children and youth. Adjutant John Cronin announced the honor crediting Charles Summers and others, with the award signed by National Commander Seaborn Collins and others.

Red Cross Appeals Aid for Flood Victims in East

Wayne County unit of the American Red Cross is asked to contribute $1,850 to flood relief after last week’s hurricane in the eastern states. Contributions total $234 so far. Send to the Red Cross office in Wooster or drop at Badger Agency or Rittman Savings Bank in Rittman. All funds go to the devastated area with no local administration costs.

Farm Worker Duane Raber Dies in Hay Balers Accident

Duane Raber 25 of Canaan died Wednesday after being caught in a hay baler on his farm one mile south and one mile west of Canaan. Funeral services are set for Saturday at 2 p.m. EST at Canaan Methodist Church with Rev. Muffley and Rev. Fritz officiating. burial in Canaan Cemetery. He is survived by wife Phyllis Linter Raber and three children Philip Duane 6 Bruce Allen 3 LuAnn 11 months.

Rittman Junior Achievement Building Planned Behind Recreation Hall

Prospects look bright for a JA building behind N Main Street Recreation Hall in Rittman. The plan involves land transfer from the Board of Education to the village, then the village would permit JA control to construct and operate offices and work rooms. Financing and construction were to proceed with a target ready date around October 15, with a contingency that the building revert to the city if the program ends.

Power interruptions planned for Ashland line work

H E Longworth local manager said power service on Ohio Edison lines will be interrupted for about half a minute at 7 a m Saturday and again at 7 30 a m Friday to permit work on the 132 000 volt transmission line at Ashland.
