The Rittman Chamber of Commerce announces a full Labor Day program on Monday September 1 featuring a reception and free chicken dinner for local soldiers from Rittman Milton township and nearby areas. The Second Infantry Military Band Akron and Rittman Concert Band will provide music along with a sports schedule including Creston vs Rittman ball games for a $100 purse and a large parade of factory workers and business leaders at 2 PM.

Mrs Jacob Hoff Dead on Hoff Farm Near Sterling
Mrs Jacob Hoff died Monday night at 84 from a stroke of paralysis. She was a widow and lived on the Hoff farm south of Sterling with her son S M Hoff. Funeral services were held Thursday at the U B church in Sterling conducted by Rev Dand son. burial at Se vilian cemetery. Survived by six children including N M Hoff and S M Hoff, with others in Akron and across the west.

Ohio boxboard and salt firms announce wage increase

Rittman Schools Set Back-to-School Schedule and Rules
The Rittman Public Schools start Monday September 8 with 3 30 opening hour. Pupils must arrive between 15 and 8 30 in the morning and between 12 55 and 12 43 for the noon session. Six year olds by December 1 may attend. those born after December 1 enroll in January. Attendance laws will be enforced with truancy prosecutions possible.

Milk Producers Meet in Wayne Medina Association Session
The Wayne Medina Milk Producers Association held its regular semi annual meeting in Rittman on Saturday August 16. New members were admitted and many producers attended. Discussions covered rising feed costs and how high oil meal prices squeeze profits, with plans to reduce seed costs and consider a tester to identify boarder cows. Local meetings were set for Chippewa township No. 0 schoolhouse on August 21 and Leroy on September 2.

Erie Freight Wreck Damages Tracks Near Main Street
A freight train derailed near the Main Street crossing east of town late Sunday causing extensive track damage. Ten cars left the rails, several turned over, and a new crane was wrecked. Section crews worked through Monday to clear wreckage. no injuries reported though damage ran into thousands.

John Smoyer Dies in Wadsworth at 67
John Smoyer of Wadsworth died at his home after several months of illness from cancerous growths. He was 67 years old, and his funeral was held in Wadsworth with burial in the local cemetery. He was survived by his brother Henry Simoyer of Rittman and attended by Charles Smover of Kittman.

The Dull family reunion gathered at Rittman Park on Saturday around 9 o clock with relatives arriving from Akron Barberton Wadsworth Lodi Burbank Aukermen Creston and Rittman. Officers elected included President Clayton Dull Secretary Othel Doll and Treasurer Earl Doll. The next reunion was set for Creston on the third Saturday of August 1920 at Myr and Andy Hullinger's home.
