German worker arrested after street altercation with Aurand

Wrag Althoff a German employee at the Obw Bosboard Co faced the mayor on charges of fighting disturbing the peace and using obscene language. The incident occurred near Bo& O crossing on Main street Sunday night as Aurand, escorting a young lady, was assaulted leaving him with black eyes. Althoff and Aurand previously fought at the factory last week and Althoff sought revenge. Mayor Shackleford Munday fined Althoff ten pounds plus costs. total fines and costs about $12.50.

Coal Shortage Halts Ohio Boxboard and Salt Co Mills

A coal shortage hit the Ohio Boxboard Co and Ohio Salt Co late last week, forcing a partial shutdown of the Boxboard paper mill on Saturday. Factories limped along for two to three days with scarce coal until Monday morning when supplies returned and operations resumed. The Oro Coal Co, a subsidiary serving four Ohio plants in Rittman and Wadsworth, supplies the fuel, with storms and transportation issues blamed for the disruption.
