Dorothy Bechtel married Charles Wald proprietor of Wald Tailor Shop in a Thursday morning ceremony at St Anne's Rectory officiated by Father Oulmet. The couple planned a two week honeymoon in Atlantic City and will reside in Rittman after. A pre nuptial shower at Mrs. Howard Houch’s home announced the wedding date.

Rittman Rotarians Attend Akron Neighbor Day

Rittman was well represented at Akron's Neighbor Day with 75 percent of the Rittman Rotarians as guests of the Akron Rotary Club. Many from Rittman joined in tours of large industries, visits to the airport under construction, and hospitality events sponsored by the Akron Chamber of Commerce.

Pictures Of Fishing Trip Presented At Wilson Home

Moving pictures of fishing and scenery shot by J H Fisher were shown at the home of C E Wilson in Hastings Ontario. Spectators viewed six hundred feet of film including landing shots after a pickerel or bass, plus panoramic camp scenes and hunting pictures from British Columbia Arizona and Old Mexico.

Road Work Advances on Rittman Section Widening and Paving

Wooster based Hoaimes Construction speeds widening and pavement of the road from Town south to the Portagerd with a six week goal. Columbus Asphalt handles paving from the south bridge to Portagerd as work proceeds. No bridges to replace but sharp curves and intersection widening at No 94 and No 36 require finishing touches before late fall. Local civic groups and the Rittman Automobile club lobbied the state highway department, aided by auto lab efforts, to secure the project and timely recognition.

Westwind Ends Its Run as Scout News Meets Last Issue

The Westwind official organ of the Rittman Boy Scouts published its final edition last month marking the tenth issue of volume one. The staff notes a $0.25 favorable balance and calls the season successful. Werner Co. Employees Reunion Draws Former Akron Staff

Last week on Wednesday former Paul Werner Printing Co employees of Akron gathered for a Werner Co reunion at Loyal Oak. Mrs William Ritter and Mrs Fred Foerstner from Rittman attended and enjoyed renewing old acquaintances with Paul Werner also present to speak.

Rittman Football Camp Seeks Local Participants

A yearly camp for high school and former players will be held at Land Lakes Beach four miles west of Shreve Ohio in the last week of the month. Interested boys should contact Tom Galehouse before next Thursday to enroll. The week costs six dollars and Coach Allarding will supervise activities including swimming and athletic drills. Last year more than thirty boys attended and organizers anticipate a larger turnout this year with full facilities for practice ahead of the new school season.

Mr and Mrs Charles Newman Leave Rittman for New Store

After nineteen years in Rittman Charles Newman and his wife depart with many friends to Krumroy Ohio where they bought a small store due to Mr Newman’s failing eyesight. He left his job as a pressman years ago and has struggled with eye problems and deafness while participating in civic work. Mrs Newman was active in church and social circles and both will run the new shop with their son Dee.

Tuesday evening the W B A Lodge met with 18 members present. Mrs Ashbrook gave a fine report after a week at a convention in Port Huron. The group announces a picnic on Wednesday August 27 at Rittings Park at 5 30 pm inviting all members and juniors to bring a basket and table service plus children.

Spontaneous Fire Burns City Dump

The city dump at West First Street was damaged by a large fire attributed to spontaneous combustion after alarms were received at 4 35 pm. Firefighters battled the blaze for about two hours before extinguishing remaining embers and preventing rekindling.

Wilson Sells Farm to Akron Contractor

Kenneth H Wilson sold the farm about a mile east of Rittman to Emery Helser of Akron. Helser, a former Akron building contractor, has moved in at the Willis Sigler property site and plans improvements to the buildings using his construction skills. He will reside on the farm as he undertakes renovations.

Douglass Sentenced in Firearms Case Under Mayor Hanes
