Council asked village engineer to study a behind Brenneman’s Grocery parcel for an off street parking lot and to remove angle parking on S Main Street. Neighbors offered land if improved for a lot while storm sewer work was urged between Fairlawn and Main north of Liberty Street.
Rittman Junior Legion hosted Wooster last Friday and lost 6-4 in a five inning game called for darkness. The defeat leaves Rittman in second place in Wayne County Legion league with a next league game scheduled at Apple Creek Friday evening.
A Citizens Telephone Committee will hold an open meeting at 8 pm next Tuesday, led by Robert L. Freed president of the Rittman Chamber of Commerce. The Board of Directors met to back the village council in urging the Public Utilities Commission to hold a formal hearing on Rittman’s telephone service.
The council confirms the walk was laid according to specification. The Mayor notes his office collected $636.50 during July.

Verlin E Adkins 26 was returned to Wooster from Huntington for questioning in the death of Birdie Gillette 34 whose nude body was found in her Rittman apartment. He admitted writing a note claiming responsibility but denied murdering her while investigators searched his room and sent stomach contents for poison testing. Additional tests and witness statements followed as divorce actions involving Gillette continued.
