The Rittman Chamber of Commerce board met at Williams Restaurant and adopted a resolution to form a citizens telephone committee led by president Robert Freed. Directors urged residents to report poor service and contact the board with views while supporting a formal hearing request to the State Public Utilities Commission via village council. A follow up meeting is scheduled for next Tuesday.

The Girl's Missionary Guild of the First Evangelical United Brethren church held a covered dish supper in the park pavilion on Monday August 2 at 6 30 pm. Reverend Echols resigns from First Baptist Church
Rev W F Echols submits a letter of resignation to the church executive board. He will serve until Sept 1 to aid the transition and will be followed by a new minister. Boy Recovering After Head Blow In Town Incident
Tom Freed son of Mr and Mrs Don Freed was struck on the head by an unidentified man while looking for a bicycle fork near the Keating waste paper plant. He awoke later and recovered some, with about 360 dollars missing from his pockets. Workers Woodroe O'Neil and Alfred Webber were detained briefly on suspicion before being released and told to leave town.
