Construction Delays May Push Doylestown High Opening
Doylestown High School may not open September 5 as planned due to slow progress on the new addition and remodeling. Principal Herbert Bennett says classes could start under adverse conditions until after Thanksgiving, with offices two classrooms and the library set for Sept 1 completion while industrial arts and music rooms await Nov 1.

Ak ron youth survives ditch crash in fog
Edward Lee Johnson, 18, of Akron, escaped injury when his car ran into a ditch two miles north of Rittman in heavy fog last Friday at 11 pm. He was traveling north on Township Road 250 at the junction with Township Road 254. Wayne County Sheriff's Department investigated and reported no damage to the vehicle.

Judges Approve Watershed Plan In Muskingum Area
Wayne County and Medina County Common Pleas Judges ruled to overrule objections to the Chippewa sub district watershed flood control and soil erosion plan. The decision follows a July 26 hearing in New Philadelphia. The plan includes eight dams and 33 miles of channel work to enlarge Chippewa Creek.
