A Chicago meeting drew 21 attendees as a CMCG A commission proposed new crime laws. The piece riffs on Prohibition, politics, and editors, with jests about Mary, Walter Liggett, Gene Tunney, and an actress planning remarriage in June.
A well attended benefit at the Pastime Theatre opened with Song of Old Kentucky and proceeds fund pageball activities for the school. The Wednesday program featured romance and racing excitement. Thursday's finale screens The Lone Star Ranger with George O'Brien and Sue Carroll. Tickets were sold by high school students.

Miss Beasle Boxer 158 of Ritman High School won the slogan contest sponsored by Procter & Gamble with To Glorify the Morning Bath Use Morning Glory Soap. Additional 38 secondary winners share a California sight-seeing tour prize eight weeks starting June 20 from Akron. An official from Gamble Co announced the rewards and an Akron banquet will honor the winners at Portage Hotel.
An All-Wayne County Ohio reunion gathered March 2% at Sycamore Grove in Los Angeles with 361 attendees. The day featured a meeting led by Dan B. Graber and speeches by prominent members, followed by depictions and a plan to reconvene in late March 1931. Attendees from Filman included Miss Rose Schrer, Miss Maude Steiner, Mrs. Myrte Underwood, Mrs. John Sharesr, and Ursula Habla in Los Angeles and Hawthorne.
Medina county grand jury returns a second degree murder indictment against Henry Vaughn of Wadsworth for the March 29 fatal shooting in a Wadsworth pool room that killed Charles Dawson and mortally wounded Sam Tedrow. Vaughn pleaded self defense at arraignment.
The Wooster Rotary program included election of directors with Pres Geo Coffey and Rotarian Wright presenting educational pictures. Directors named were Warren Bodager J J Gannon W A Garver B E Hendrickson Walter Shook and C A Snyder. The club aims for near 100 percent attendance at the district convention in Cleveland next week with Rittman selected to give the address of welcome by Supt Garver.
Council approves a two-thirds vote for the gas rate ordinance on second and third readings. The pay ordinance totaled 642.84 dollars after minutes were read and approved. Action on sewer pumps and property conveyance was deferred to the next regular meeting.
An interview with W G Hershey notes Rittman’s population growth from about 1000 to 1200 to near 4000, a gain unmatched in the county and credited to local enterprise. Wooster rises by around 1700 and Orrville by under 100 to about 4200, with railroad shop transfers contributing to Rittman’s change.
A county seniors contest at Wooster featured five subjects Mathematics History Science Social Science and English. Ritman teams placed as Burbank led with Ritman taking second and third. high Ritman scorers were Donald Lohman Thelma Martin and Mary Payne with Heather Spada also noted. Maxine Kime of Ritman High earned a silver medal for a short story entered in the county contest. Next Saturday the Beaver County high school scholarship contest draws entrants from multiple subjects with state semifinals in Kelit and a potential Columbus final for scholarship awards.
The regular W. C. T. U. meeting is set for Wednesday April 20 at the home of Mrs Oliver Ben singer 58 N Third St. The session will be held by order of the president.
The ladies of the Church of Chiist announce a bake sale at Ruckel's store on Saturday April 26 1930 from 10:00 am to 7:00 pm. Goods will be on display and for sale.
A bake sale will be held in the store of Alphus Gostinet on Saturday April 6 to benefit St Ann’s Church. Proceeds support church operations and community needs.
Dominic Cacciola received a two year prison term and a $1000 fine at the Ohio State Penitentiary after Medina County officials transported him following a failed appeal. The sentence marks his third conviction for illegal liquor activity tied to Waters on resort operations and linked to bootlegging investigations and a fatal shooting involving Charles Dawson and Sam Tedrow.
A community one act comedy titled Grandma Pulla the String and the tragedy Trifles will be staged May 2 at Hen School auditorium. Cast includes George Henderdon sheriff John Yarnany Tonry Peter, Mrs Wright and Mrs Peters. The play invites townspeople to discover motive behind a murder through clues in trifles.
In Wayne County the annual Musicale showcased Rittman High School students and clubs. The event, held in the school auditorium, featured the girls choir, leagice club, and the high school orchestra directed by Herbert Rodda, with cooperation from local schools.
