Hold-up and Robbery at Rittman Station
The Erie passenger depot in Rittman saw a hold-up Friday night as night man P. G. Fergus was forced at gunpoint to reveal money. The robber opened the cash drawer and took $10.56 after demanding a remittance of $677 placed earlier by Agent Huber aboard train No.16. Police pursued, but the suspect escaped. two men later jailed for vagrancy were linked to the scene but not proven accomplices.

Leslie Metzger born November 20 1896 in Am boy township Hillsdale County Michigan died after being struck by an eastbound freight train near town April 5 1913. He lived with relatives in Rittman and Michigan and funeral services were held in both places with interment in Michigan.
