Car Stolen From Parked Plymouth In Town

The Plymouth sedan of Dr. E R Alexander was stolen Sunday between 6 and 7 p m from in front of Shook Lumber Yard and was found abandoned near musk rat farm east of town at 9 30 p m. It suffered no damage beyond being in a ditch. Several women attended a district garden club meeting at Sharon Center on Wednesday.

Mrs. Charles Wald entertained 21 friends for her daughter Carolyn's 13th birthday on Friday evening April 9. The group played games danced and received many gifts. Refreshments of ice cream cake and punch were served.

Booster Club To Sponsor Two Coming Attractions

Rittman Booster club met eight members at the high school. They completed plans for showing Cleveland Browns football pictures Tuesday night April 20 at 8. Public admission is free. The club will present Stoney Cooper and his Climb Mountain Gang in a jamboree at the high school Monday evening April 26. Ticket sales are handled by Jack Wenger and Robert Steiner.

Local Ladies Lead Akron Bowling Tourney

Leaders in the 22nd annual Akron Women's Bowling Association tournament dominated the action at North Hill Recreation. In doubles, D. Wald and M Ritter of Rittman posted 1126 to lead, pushing B. Rosenberg and B. Ankomeus of Wadsworth to second with 1117.

Special Council Meeting Hears Sidewalk Protests

The council met Friday evening to hear petitions against sidewalk constriction on private property. Alex Peronis urged fixing a Front street sewer before sidewalks are relaid, and other requests from east Diagonal to S Park street, Walnut street, Grandview Metzger avenue, and a segment of SEE Avenue were noted as accepted.

Cancer society campaign aims ten thousand in Wayne County

A $10,000 goal was set for the Wayne County annual American Cancer Society drive started last week. Collection boxes were placed in various businesses in Rittman on Monday.

Village Council Seeks State Aid to Improve Route 94

The Rittman village council voted to request state aid to upgrade Route 94 through town after contacting the state highway division engineer, who warned funding may be scarce this year. The meeting also addressed street digging permits, crossing repairs, sidewalk projects, park caretaker approval, storm sewer plans, and noise complaints from Rittman Packing Co.

Long Rain Halts Farm Work Across Local Area

Three day rainfall totals near three inches per Ohio Experiment Station figures. Sunday 1.9 inches, Monday 0.5 inches, Tuesday 0.55 inches, totaling 2.97 inches. Despite rain streams remain unflooded and highways open. Fields will not be worked until next week due to ground saturation.

Funeral Services Held for C A Biddle 85

Calvin A Biddle aged 85 died Saturday April 3 at the home of his daughter Mrs John F Hatfield Rittman RD 1. Funeral services were held Tuesday April 6 at the Rittman Church of Christ. He is survived by two daughters Mrs Hatfield and Mrs Frank Covell of Wadsworth, a brother Arthur of Massillon, a sister Mrs C A Wendland of Massillon, four grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Burial was in St Michael's cemetery Marshallville with L A Mill funeral home of Boyles town in charge.

A son was born to Mrs John Lance of Sterling at Wadsworth hospital on Thursday April 8. A daughter named Ann Cheryl weighing 6 pounds was born to Mr and Mrs Clair Brickel of Dayton Tennessee. Mrs Brickel is the former Martha Hoover.
