Rittman Wins 1947 48 League Trophy At Banquet
Central Buckeye Basketball League members named the 1947 48 All League teams at the Smithville Inn. Rittman received the league championship trophy and shared top honors on the first team with Wooster. Neal Milford led voting with eight votes and was a forward. Ken Plahuta and Dick Montanya joined the first team. Orrville placed a forward and two others were named. Joe Codiano and Bill Porter highlighted the second team selections. Officiating members elected new league officers with Fred Allmandinger as president and H M Wiggens as secretary. The league set a unified schedule for 1948 49 and planned evening games.

A chamber of commerce special committee will pursue road repairs for Rittman. President Freld named Fred DeMaria Charles Rohrer Ralph Overholt and John H Fisher to coordinate with township officials on restoring streets in and out of town. A pest control program was discussed and a farm auction sale and a summer merchants award are under study. A board meeting is set for City Hall on Thursday April 15 at p.m.

Ten Scouts From Troop 405 Swim at Akron Y
Ten boys of Troop 405 went swimming at the Akron Y Wednesday night under Scoutmaster Vernon Phillips and Assistant Ed Amweg. School Board Buys Window Drapes and Plans Building
At a Tuesday meeting the Board of Education voted to buy drapes for the high school auditorium to allow darkening for movies. They rejected sidewalk plans on Clover Street as unaffordable, and will sell the North Street house if a suitable bid arrives. The architect reports plans due in two weeks, delays persist. Supt Hauenstein notes two teachers may not return. three are doubtful. The inspector’s March visit rated Rittman schools satisfactory. The board aims to paint rooms this summer and have Homer Houser buy a power lawn mower. the clock system will be inspected.
