A son named David Nelson born to Di and Mrs Herbert Tabroil at Mt Sinai in Cleveland on March 4. A son to Mrs William Sigler of Rittman born at Wadsworth Hospital on March 28. A son to Mrs William Esselstein of Doylestown born at Wadsworth Hospital on March 27.

A Monday meeting of the Ritt man water board council and planning commission discussed expanding water mains to three allotments. Grandview Land Co. and the Herberich Hall-Harter plan show need for facilities. the Bauman orchard area is also opening for development. Bonds may be issued, with assessment bonds paid by property owners and revenue bonds funded by water department revenue. An 800 foot trunk line from North and Fourth to W Sunset would cost about 4000 dollars. The board may buy land near the pumping station to add a new well and a standpipe may be needed later to maintain pressure. an engineering study will outline future expansion. Repkd of Herberich Hall-Harter showed a 650-lot layout and aims to start construction this spring.
Karl Gillman has purchased the Ebert Funeral Home and equipment on S Main Street effective today April 1, announced this week. The sale transfers ownership from A L Ebert to Gillman and includes the business assets.
A capacity crowd attended the Booster club banquet for the high school basketball teams Tuesday evening at the United Brethren church. Merle Wagner of State University was guest speaker. Coach Ashton Hall and Booster club president Lawrence Wilmot spoke, and a new 16 mm silent projector was presented to Hall for displaying football game pictures.
Harry Heffelman 51 of Kansas City Missouri died at 4 15 am Thursday at the Veterans Hospital Wadworth Kansas He had lived in Rittman until 1940 and was employed by the National Paper Co He was active in American Legion work and a past commander of the local post He is survived by his widow Katherine and four sons Willard Wayne William and Wallace Military funeral services will be held in Kansas City with burial there.
Willard Hilty told the Press this week the wave of chain letters has begun again. He says postal rules forbid chain letters that result in money or merchandise returning to sender. Letters of this type found are removed and sent to Washington for possible action against the sender.
Mrs W W Bodager reports the local Red Cross drive raised $1350 this year in Rittman. She thanks solicitors and contributors for strong support and invites anyone not contacted to leave contributions at the Bodager Agency on the square.
Mr Gillman, longtime embalmer at Ebert Funeral Home since 1926 and graduate of Cincinnati College of Embalming, plans to hire a full time assistant and funeral director. He will continue to oversee Surge dairy equipment service with two full time staff as part of maintaining high standards.
Ralph E Baney a traveler author lecturer and missionary from Palestine will present his talk The Palestine Crisis with motion pictures at the First Baptist Church on Wednesday April 7 at 730 pm He recently returned from Palestine and Europe and lectures before resuming work in Palestine He is author of Behind the Scenes in Novi Germany and editor of The Palestine Pictorial News and is known across the state for his church lectures and crusade for Christian work in Palestine
