Citizens discussing a 6000 bond issue to buy Rittman park hear there is no contract tying park ownership to the original owners. Mayor Shackleford says title would pass in fee simple and future use would not revert to the Rittman Realty Co.
The newly organized American Legion Post in Rittman serves the surrounding territory and plans social events. Two meetings have yielded committees, with a launch event a Lance at Schorger's hall on Friday April 16 1920. Ex servicemen are urged to apply via Harry Heffelman Post Commander.
The notice lists multiple marriage licenses with couples from Cleveland Wooster Orrville Creston and other towns. Names include Nora Fenton Overly and Mary Ellen Miller. E Raymond Horst and Zarah L Ault. Pearly Mason Fetzer and Maude Lucille Barnes. Rey McConnell and Luella Mac Smith. Harrison Douglass and Neva Campbell. Marvin H Breece and Mary Philpott. William Drage and Clara Gardner. Also referenced is the musical Pollyanna coming to the Opera House.
John J. Gish, born 1835 on the Gish homestead in Shinersburg, died Easter Sunday at his home after a prolonged illness. His funeral was held Wednesday at two, conducted by Rev J Black with a United Brethren quartet, and interment in the family cemetery. Pallbearers included three nephews and local men.
John di Gish born March 21 1035 died April 4 1020 from pneumonia aged 85 years 14 days. He married Sarah Ann Bessey on May 4 1865 and had one son Charles and four daughters. His first wife died in 1888. he married Alice Yohey in 1891 who survives him. He lived his life in East Donegal Township and was a respected pioneer, father, and neighbor with a record of moral worth and integrity.

The village council met in regular session with four members present and filled the vacancy caused by John Derthick's death by electing Harmon Faber to the council. No bids were received on the Salt Street paying bonds worth $31,897.56, prompting plans for private sale or a higher interest rate if reissued. A contractor bond arrangement secured for the Salt Street job, part stock collateral, and work to begin soon. Discussions covered pole relocation by the B W G Telephone Co, paving surface plans on Ohio Avenue, and a remonstrance against cinders on a section of Ohio Avenue. An ordinance passed to pay several bills including the C S C Ry light bill. Mayor Shackleford reported $36 in fines and license fees collected since the last meeting.
A school auditorium gathering Wednesday hosted a parents teachers meeting. An entertaining program preceded a paper read by Mrs. H. E. Hiers on improving beauty and cleanliness, with general discussion following.
Roy E K Faber former postmaster of Rittman pleaded guilty to abstracting 5000 from a money package in his custody and was sentenced to 15 months in Atlanta federal prison. He will be sent next week to begin the term with possible release after about a year. Some locals attended. defense was by Starn and Joe Frits. A bank package loss led to his arrest March 10 after Feb 23 transport of $16000 to Cleveland. A Wooster paper claim about war savings stamps is deemed fabrication by local sources.
The Ockenhauser bakery in Rittman has closed this week. Proprietor Louis L. Ockenhauser, recently from Steubenville, purchased the business from W. C. Lyons weeks ago. Uncertainty remains whether the closure is permanent or temporary as the town learns the fate of the shop.
L. E. Greelmiller who bought the Brinkerhoff building on Main Street opposite Rittman Realty plans a summer expansion. A rear addition will require substantial excavation due to a bank at the back. It is not known if Stoolmiller will move his meat market into the enlarged building or keep leasing it.
In a brief exchange at the meeting the group including Wheat and Oates discuss crop pace and supply with 285 units cited as a key figure for pricing capacity and market outlook.
