The Rittman High School band delivered an enthusiastic Friday night concert featuring guest conductor Jack W Broucek from the University of Connecticut Bands. Due to illness, Lois Es Penschiel was replaced by Charles Rhodes, Canal Fulton High School trombonist and past two-year state contest winner, who performed Atlantic Zyphers and Blue Bells of Scotland with variations. The Senior Class works on the high school production Spring Fever to be staged in the High School Auditorium at 3 15 on April 25. The play centers on fictitious Brookfield College in the eastern states with Howard Brant, played by Russell Riggs, denied his diploma the day before commencement for failing to hand in his Zoology paper.

Mrs. Mary Gettings aged 75 longtime Rittman resident died at her home south of town at 12 23 p m Wednesday The funeral will be held Saturday at St Philip's and James Church with burial in the church cemetery She is survived by a daughter Margaret and a son James both of Rittman R D and a son Emmet of Orrville
Wayne County Legionnaires from eight posts meet at Howard A Bar Post 423 in Rittman April 9 at 8 00 p m. The gathering includes Wooster Apple Creek Orrville Doyles town Creston West Salem and Rittman members with a Child Welfare safety program and a State Patrol speaker promised by Col Lynn Black. Open to all men in the community regardless of Legion membership. The 10th District spring conference will be held at Costoct on Sunday April 6 with Rittman members planning to attend.
Funeral services were held for Jake Wurgler aged 65 at the New Mennonite church in Kidron. A resident of the area until moving to Orrville two years ago he was a brother of Joe Wurgler and survived by his wife and relatives in Switzerland. Burial followed at Kidron. Friends and relatives from Sterling attended.
June Swartz of Creston has been granted a divorce from John Swartz Jr whose address is not provided.
Rittman residents will be examined when a federal officer tests registered aliens in Wooster Friday. R V Fredrick will testify for Pete Petkoff of 145 East Ohio Avenue and for Mrs Frank Carde of 65 East Ohio Avenue.
Simonton, former Rittman high school athlete and Ohio Boxboard Co. employee, is in Wadsworth Municipal Hospital with a fractured ankle after an accident while driving an electric truck at the plant about 9 30 Wednesday night. He is expected to stay in the hospital two weeks.
North Cran District students earned excellent ratings at the Northeastern Ohio high school district contest in Alliance. Lydia Battle, Jacob Britton, Jean Reuter, Teresa Zvada, and others posted top scores in piano, saxophone, clarinet, horn, and brass ensembles. Judge remarks praised skill across eighth and ninth graders with multiple excellent ratings and a note of high ensemble achievement.
Charles Keneagy a 91 year old Rittman resident and the town’s oldest citizen died Saturday afternoon March 29 at his son in law’s home. He was a partner in Hershey and Rohrer for many years. He is survived by two grandchildren Mrs Hershey of Rittman and Mrs William McQuigg of Barberton. He was interred Tuesday at Ebert Funeral Home with Rev C J McGer of the United Brethren Church presiding. Burial followed at Rittman Cemetery.
Justice of the Peace Joseph Sherrick announces a free service at his Municipal Building office on the north side of the square. He will record descriptions and manufacturer numbers of valuables like watches and jewelry to aid identification in case of loss.

Roy B. Rogers former editor of The Rittman Press and Clarence Windle were inducted into the U S Army at Cleveland last Saturday. They passed their final physical examination and entrained for Columbus, stationed at Ft Hayes awaiting transfer to a new Army training camp.
Baptist Church revival services feature a varied music lineup led by pastor conducting nightly services. The pictured local church quartet includes Lowell, Rex, Wadley, Yoe Thomas, and J T Kem with Alma handling special music. Remaining week features The Buckeye Four, The Deep South Quartet, The Four Harps of Harmony, Rittman First Brethren Church, The Dixie Gospel Singers, The Big Four Quartet, The Sunshine Girls Trio, and Erekeye Four closing on April 13.
England and Sherrick swapped properties this week. Joseph Sherrick, justice of the peace of Rittman, will receive two frame dwellings on S Main Street, while Myr. and Mrs. England obtain the Sherrick farm of 105 acres with house, barn and outbuildings in Chester township. They plan to move to the farm this month.
Sunday 1:30 a m Louis Firls of Rittman collided on Route 94 with Mrs Steve Takasas of Wadsworth at River Styx bridge. Firls charged with reckless driving fined 10 dollars plus costs after trial before Justice Sherrick. Other incidents: Fred Fluhart and hay wagon crash near cheese factory curve. Charles Raach arrested with old plates fined one dollar. Roy Winkler fined 25 dollars for reckless driving with sentence suspended.
Fifteen Rittman Rotarians and guests attended the Lodi club’s 15th anniversary dinner at the high school dining room on Tuesday evening with Wadsworth club participation. W. A. Garver received special recognition as the member who helped organize the Lodi club in its charter period. A chicken dinner featured music and an address by Dr. Raymond W. Bixter of Ashland College on The Forces That Are Making Europe Today.
Malinda Horn has qualified as executrix of the estate of her husband Eli Horn late of Chippewa Township. A bond is provided as in the will. Real estate is estimated at about 3500 dollars.
The Milton Presbyterian church choir of 24 voices presents an Easter Cantata Hall King of Glory on Palm Sunday at 4 30. Congregation joins processional and recessional hymns. Performers include Laland DeVore Osborne Havenstein Squibbs McConnell Shackleford Clippinger Tuceinurdi. Worship ends with organ and piano accompaniment. Special Holy Week services follow April 8 to 11 at 7 30 with Easter Sunday communion concluding Rev Hendrickson's final service.
A son was born to Mr and Mrs Louis Sohar of South Second Street on March 26. A daughter born to Mr and Mrs J E McGrann of Lancaster Pa on Monday morning March 31. Mrs McGrann was the former Miss Mary Longenecker of this city. A girl born to Mr and Mrs Junior Musser Rittman RD East on Friday March 28. A girl born to Mr and Mrs Alvin Winkler Sterling RD on April 1. It mentions sardine gasoline development and conscientious objectors to be assigned to civil defense duties in England.
Everett Bauman 25, truck driver of Sterling RB died in a truck accident on the 90 highway south of Jackson. Rev Noah Harterler led services at Murray Funeral Home Creston. Burial at Apostolia Cemetery. He is survived by his mother and siblings. He and Lester Workman of N Senecast, Rittman drove for John Kinn Co of Cleveland, loader with roofing. The two trucks stopped in Sterling Tuesday morning and resumed at 3 am. His lead truck pulled off to the right after turning onto the 36 highway, ran along the berm about 200 feet, ripping off about 40 feet of guard.
Forrest Bayman returns home from Wright Field at Dayton where he was insured and stays with his mother Mrs. Burdella Bayman when his brother Everett Bauman dies in a Tuesday morning motor accident south of Jackson. Everett’s father was killed eight years earlier in Cres ton at the B and O Railroad crossing. Bauman was to wed Easter Sunday to Miss Vivian Stout of Wooster, daughter of Rev. and Mrs. H. E. Stout of Damascus, Ohio.
An accident described as a railing and posts failure led to a truck overturning in a stream with the cab submerged. Gasoline spilled and the vehicle burst into flames. A workman arrived quickly but could not aid Bauman in the flames. Batman, a five year company driver and familiar local patron, is identified in the report.
