Kingland and France declare war on Germany over Poland invasion. Germany advances toward Warsaw, while French forces claim success on the western front. US commodity prices rise as radios and supplies jump, and President Roosevelt acts to curb profiteering and defend neutrality.

Next Sunday September 10 is the last Sunday before conference. Church school at 10, worship at 11, Haworth League at 7, evening worship at 8. The lay delegate should attend conference September 14 to close old business, and the new delegate should attend September 15 to open the new organization.
Potter Community Boosters club will meet next Wednesday at 6 30 pm at the Tebrinke cafe. Supt A B Connell leads the program and promises an interesting session, with all invited to attend.
SEXTORP residents recount weekend visits at the Fred Prince home with A I Moss and Mrs Henry Bendixon in Kimball and Mrs Fred Prince hosting. The 1985 class reunion gathered Sunday evening August 27 at the home of LaVonne Vesey with Avis ll Clifford Herboldsheimer and Vesey as entertaining committee. Guests included Mr. and Mrs. W A Johnson of Hemingford Nebraska. After games and contests a tasty lunch was served.
A West Coast soldier on furlough became violently ill Wednesday evening and local police rushed him to Sydney where doctors performed an appendectomy soon after arrival. He remained in critical condition.
