Eight carloads of beets have been bended cel a Pet troop to Thursday evening for Scott bai, the harvest of this crop sterling nicely started. Thirty-nine cars were shipped from Potter last year.
Potter's six non football team travels to Dix for a Friday matchup as Lodge Pole visits next Wednesday October 25 for a high intensity game. The locals expect a tough contest with improving speed and competitive spirit.
No school will be held Thursday or Friday as faculty attend the teachers convention. The convention opens Wednesday evening and runs through Saturday, affecting the local school schedule.
Notice warns that the land east of Potter along Thurston Creek is leased for hunting and prohibits trespassing or hunting by any other parties.

Mrs. Mary Lucile Jensen Gade of Pine Bluffs Wyoming died October 15 1989 from pneumonia. Born November 28 1910 at Lyons Nebraska she lived in Potter before moving to Pine Bluffs. She married Erwin C Gade in 1936 and left two children Loreen and Morris. Survived by parents Joseph and Maude Jensen brothers George Howard Theodore Joseph Walter Rex Darrel and sister Helen Jensen of Chappell and Mrs Elsie Dean of Cheyenne. Funeral October 18 1939 at Community Methodist Church Pine Bluffs with Rev S Grove officiating. Interment Pine Bluffs cemetery.
The American Legion plans to sponsor a Santa visit, Christmas sing, and outdoor events on December 16 if funding from groups covers an estimated $30 needed for Santa’s visit. Last year’s program was a success, bringing holiday cheer to children with no profit to organizers. Relatives and friends across Sterling, Gering, Moorefield, Cheyenne, Padroni, and Simon extend thanks to all who aided during Flora Courtright’s illness and death, including doctors, nurses, Royal Neighbors, and volunteers.

Herman Fricke displayed two large German trout he caught in Ledgepole Creek near Point of Rocks. One measured 13 inches and the other 16 inches, among the largest landed in the area for some time.

Delores K Green of Sidney and Emer ald F Rapp of Sidney Nebr were married at noon Monday October 16 1939 by Judge Shafto at his Harrisburg home. The bride is a niece of Mrs Wm L Lee of Harrisburg and the wedding party included Joe Green and Mr and Mrs Paul Wilson. The couple will reside near Sidney after a wedding trip to Denver and the mountains.

Elmer Holiday leasing the Sinclair service station from Mr. and Mrs Frank Armstrong who have run it for some time. The Armstrongs are undecided about their next move.
Clifford Witt of Cheyenne visited his parents here Tuesday evening.
Potter defeated St Pats Academy at Sidney on Friday October 13 in a hard fought game. Potter started strong with two first quarter touchdowns but St Pats countered with two scores of 45 yard runs. The third quarter tied 20 20 and Kenneth Schwartz scored the final winning TD for Potter in the last minute.
Mrs Emma Olson marked her 78th birthday with a joyful afternoon as twelve ladies delivered lunch baskets and spent time with her. Her daughter in Denver sent a box of roses, adding a festive touch to the celebration.
Cody Patterson and his family relocated this week to a new residence in Ashby Nebraska. Cody is employed on a large local ranch, joining a growing community presence as they settle in.

R. I. Merscheim of Robertson and Merscheim trucking line introduces a large cattle trailer bought in Omaha. The rig, over ten tons capacity, hauled livestock toward Wheeler and Rupe of Kirk after entering Omaha on Tuesday.

Mr and Mrs K Nelson visited the J W Bertramson home Friday morning. The Olsen and Nelson families were guests at various homes Sunday and Thursday evenings. Mr and Mrs Leo Olsen and family visited Jens Olsen and Carl Larson homes. Mr and Mrs Bud Hewitt planned a visit to Padroni Colorado. Multiple calls and visits occurred among local residents including the Madden, Haack, Larson, Wittrock, and Nelson households with neighbors dropping by on weekend and weekday evenings.
Potter Lodge No. 313 A F and A M held a well attended Tuesday meeting. The entered apprentice degree was conferred on coach Arthur Barrett. Several visitors from neighboring towns attended and a luncheon followed served by the committee.
