It is a safe prediction that within six weeks Potter will establish a highway club focused on permanent road repairs through the town. A survey would precede cost estimates. tax funds appear sufficient, with business leaders and farmers urged to back the project for town and county benefits.
The village council named the election board at the regular meeting. Judges are O. E Anderson N. P. Rasmussen and Wm. Je Adam. Clerks are R. A. Babcock and Clarence Johson. Election set for Tuesday April 1 at Thornburg hall.
The bill grants local authorities power to permit Sunday baseball by a majority vote of city or village residents or by county commissioners allowing play on Sundays. The act specifies the right to authorize Sunday games beneath a legal framework.
Frank Gotch of Humboldt Iowa, undefeated world champion, will return from a year’s retirement to meet Russian star Lurich in Kansas City on a date to be fixed. If Gotch wins, he would face LaMaria, aiming to knock out two foreign challengers. Speculation runs on Gotch’s return condition after living lightly and lacking recent training.

State pod drug and dairy inspector D. W. Hecox of Kearney spent several days in Potter last week visiting business places and noting no major concerns. It was his first trip in the area and he outlined aims to advise firms on compliance, warn about law adherence, and improve sanitation and safety across many facilities including dairy and food service areas. He described a proposed bill to consolidate oil and inspection duties under one head to boost efficiency.
Cornfed steers from Lodge Pole sold by Bowser and Tehmkuh brought 2599 for 25 head to A Englert last week. They sold Monday on the Omgla market at 2.55 per hundred, about 10 a head. The lot set a record for Lodge Pole cattle at the top market price.
Thirteen young Chappell suffragists hiked to Lodge Pole Sunday and returned by evening train. A large turnout greeted them at the depot with a tin pan band and a banner reading Votes for Women and Hurrah for the Hikers. Work starts immediately on a three story brick and stone home for the First National Bank at Sidney.
An election will be held in Potier Nebraska on Tuesday April 15 1913 to elect five village trustees two serving one year and three serving two years. Qualified voters may vote 9 a m to 7 p m at the Thornbury ball stamped March 19 1913 by Chairman Ef Puvesson with attestations.
The school board will discuss renewing the present staff at the next meeting. Patrons and pupils welcome the decision as no changes will be made. About half a dozen applications for positions have been received, including one for the principalship.
A petition has been sent to the post office reestablishing the route between Beale and Due lingness to serve sixty six families. Postmaster Hanon has weighed star route mail and will continue for two months as the pay measure is determined.
Out of 1600 sheep, 500 at the home place and 500 at Kimball. Adam Ledingham and Mrs Ledingham with a son and a herder tended 200 sheep in a vehicle all day Friday and lost none. The trio seeks a respectful hearing on the subject The Strenuous Life.
The sentiment at the bank Tuesday night favored forming an all home players team for the Potter district. Try outs will start once the diamond is prepared and practice weather arrives. J A Woten was elected manager.
Mrs. E. M. Beale and her young son from Dye arrived Saturday night en route home after a three week visit with relatives near Marshalltown. They were delayed fourteen hours at North Platte by the storm. Mr Beale came to town Sunday and said roads were fairly good except for about three miles near this end.
The inquiry last Friday found the cause of the Gothenburg accident was the No 12 engineer failing to observe signals and control the train. Block signals were working, both 4 and 12 engineers were discharged. Four passengers died, eighteen injured, the first Union Pacific passenger fatality since 1904.
A simple home recipe for kid friendly bubbles uses six ounces of hot water one and a half cups of Castile soap shavings three ounces of glycerine and cheap clay pipes. When bubbles form they glow with colors if placed on woolen cloth and blown from a balcony or window they travel far offering bubble races for children.
Reports show stock losses in Potter district and west to Pine Bluffs likely under five percent, with pockets near Kimball reaching 25 percent. Elsewhere losses were heavier, especially Alliance countryside, sandhill region southeast, and northeastern Colorado near Sterling where 800 cattle were dumped in a reservoir. Mr Elmer Jacobson wed Miss Florence Dugger on Wednesday of last week at the Dugger home in Sidney. Mrs Jacobson taught school at Sextorp after growing up near Bridgeport. Groom is son of N Jacobson whose farm lies eight miles north of Potter. They reside with well wishes from many friends.
