Omaha tornado Easter Sunday killed about 200, left 400 injured and 2,179 homeless. Nebraskans, aided by troops and relief groups, organized rapid relief with funds exceeding 200000 dollars. Looting was rare and landlords faced one extortion case as Omaha began rebuilding and uniting rich and poor.
Fred Johnson and Gussie Wieck horst are named on a new Potter Cubs fundraising committee to equip a boys base ball squad. They drafted a subscription paper describing a strong lineup including Tred Johnson as catcher and captain and Raymond Ledingham as manager.

Clausen’s 31 years on the ranch included county service. the Clausen family plans Nebraska City relocation as friends extend best wishes.
The Johnson family, new arrivals from Wayne and owners of the Robert McAdam farm and other tracts, haul lumber for a 32 by 40 foot barn and plan improvements this spring. Herman Johnson, cousin of the Olander boys, builds a dwelling on Harry Olander's land for his family to occupy this summer. his former home was in Chicago.
Easter was observed at the English Lutheran Church with a good sized audience. The program included choir, prayers, scripture reading, address of welcome by Inwin Spitzbart, exercises by Beginners, recitations by Johnny Seyfang and the Gunderson children, solos by Edna Anderson and Anna Struble, recitation by Karl Spitzbart, and a closing benediction.
Sidney High School defeated a Peru State Normal Alumni team 20 to 17 in a rough, televised style game. George Gowin returned from Bridgeport to report the melee, noting Sidney’s late rally overturned the lead and earned the western Nebraska champions claim. One Acee player was carried from the field with injuries as the teachers’ association meeting proceeded. Local teams and officials listed include Oberfelder Gilmore Willis Dryden Parks Clements Wright MeMillen Gyabill Peedeetl Gowin.
Petitions in circulation reveal four saloons planned in Sidney for the next fiscal year. Kruse and Klein drop from the list as officials review licenses and community impact.
Early and revised figures from Ohio and Indiana flood zones indicate Dayton and surrounding cities suffered massive loss. Deaths reach 3,066 in Ohio with hundreds of homicides, while Indiana reports 100,000 homeless and 96 deaths. Property losses top twenty five to fifty million, boosted to fifty million nationwide.
After a Potter voters caucus was published it was found not in line with election law, yet a caucus met Monday night at the bank to gauge candidate support. Art Nelson was named chairman EK H Biggs secretary and a ticket for one year and two years was proposed with five trustees. No ballot names will be printed all must be written. The event revealed voter preferences and produced parliamentary rulings not commonly seen.
George Jacks of a ranch 19 miles northeast of Potter reported that his barn, built a couple of years ago, saved fifteen calves aged one to two weeks during a blizzard. He noted the structure has already paid for itself through the stock saved.
The Cheyenne Leader reports a proposed 120 mile railroad from Bridgeport Nebraska to Cheyenne Wyoming. It would pass through Harrisburg Albin and Divide tapping rich farming lands with substantial local subscriptions totaling about 395000 toward funding. Farmers along the line expect railroads to finance or a private syndicate to build as an independent line.
Parcel post regulations amended allow the sender of a prepaid parcel to collect the article price plus charges from the addressee with a ten cent fee, for amounts up to $100. The parcel will be insured against loss up to its value but not exceeding $50. Parcels labeled Co. O. D. may only be mailed from money order offices. Potter Review price: one dollar per year.
