Thirty five farmers who kept accounts report a 5.71 percent loss in their year’s operation. The deficit is mainly due to inventory loss on equipment improvements and livestock. The average farmer involved had an investment of 26515 dollars.

Henry James, 57, a Great Western Sugar employee from Bayard, drowned when a fishing boat capsized in Kilpatrick lake amid high winds. Three companions aboard were tossed into the water. one clung to the boat and drifted in, while the other two swam to safety.

Directors released 17 percent of frozen deposits from the old bank and 30 percent since reopening, against an agreement of 1 percent per month. An agreement with a member stockholder will buy all frozen deposits of 25 dollars and under, with funds moved to the new bankbooks so depositors receive money immediately rather than 10 percent monthly. Dalton residents back the new bank after being without a bank for over a year.

Freddie Carlson fourteen year old son of Mr and Mrs Emil Carlson suffered a dislocated hip bone and other injuries when a truck backed over him at the Carlson farm last Friday. He was rushed to Sterling hospital for examination where doctors found injuries less serious than first feared. He is now home convalescing and able to get around.
Anton Benish Sr was remembered last Sunday by his children and others for his 85th birth anniversary. The celebration included relatives and neighbors from the Benish and Nelson families and guests from Sidney, with wishes for many more happy returns of the day.
The Potter Alpine Mining Company near Idaho Springs Colorado plans a bonded lease with New Process Mining Company of Denver. Dr A J Ames says papers will reach local officers for signatures of August Schmidt and the president, with Wm Hagemister and Earl Cronk arranging the deal. If signed the firm hopes to operate within sixty days and pay stock in full from mine revenue.

Joseph Glazewiski aged 16 and his 12 year old brother from Milwaukee steal a car in Ogallala, head toward home, wreck east of town, flee into irrigation ditch, and are later found hitchhiking with a stolen $45 from their father. The vehicle owned by Theo Lightbody is badly damaged and the chase involves Sheriff Taylor and deputies.
Miss Marie McMillan left Tuesday for Chicago to attend the worlds fair. She was accompanied as far as Julesburg by Sara McMillan who will visit there a few days.
Mrs A B Danielson and her two children Alvin and Floyd are spending a week near North Platte. She is accompanied by Mrs Cecil Wyckoff of Kimball.
