Pioneer Citizen Betty Johnson Dies at 79 in Sidney
Betty Johnson 79 a fifty year pioneer resident of the community died at Sidney hospital after long illness. She lived with her son Alfred Johnson and family and had moved to Sidney in 1932 for care. Survived by two sons Alfred Potter and Oscar Colorado Springs seven grandchildren one daughter preceded in death. Funeral held at Potter Lutheran church June 6 1939 with Dr W T Kahse officiating.

In a Sunday game Peareily defeated Kimball 14 to 3 after Kimball opened with three runs in the first inning. Kimball was held scoreless rest of game as Peareily pitchers Subry and Fisher shared the win with strong defense and 16 strikeouts. Peetz beat Pine Bluffs 15-2 and Bunkerhill toppled Sidney 4-2. Potter and Bunkerhill remain undefeated as next week schedules show Peetz at Bunker Hill and Pine Bluffs at Sidney.

Harry Ellis Chase former Potter municipal light plant worker was killed while assisting with bare copper lines under a charged 22 000 volt feed. Donald Hallett 23 Fremont Mich Also electrocuted Claude Harding 47 Injured seriously but expected to recover. Chase born July 16 1905 died age 33 years 10 months 17 days services held at Union church north of Ainsworth Nebr. He was married December 9 to Helen Cunningham of Atkinson.

Potter players traveled to Ogallala Wednesday evening to watch the Ogallala Indians trample the 1st Infantry team of Ft Warren by 18 to 0 under the new lights. Participants included C. E.
