Hiram Lingle Wyoming pioneer and town namesake died of an epileptic stroke at his Valley View ranch. His body was sent to Denver for cremation Friday. A former Wyoming highway commissioner, Lingle founded the North Platte Canal and Irrigation company. Survived by his widow and two sisters.

Girl Recovering From Snake Bite In Hospital
Mary Ellen Stretch, five, daughter of Mr and Mrs Tom Stretch, was brought to the hospital last Thursday after a rattlesnake bite. She was very sick for several days, but swelling in her right leg between knee and ankle is receding and she seems on the way to recovery. The snake struck the girl twice as snakes are more numerous this year, likely due to a mild winter.

In Ogallala a young man about 22 was found semiconscious in the business district. Night marshal Roy Manges and Dr. W V Dorst cared for him. A letter showed he suffered encephalitis and used benzedrine sulphate to awaken. He left home after a quarrel with his father and had run out of the drug.

Memorial Day Observed with Legion Service at Methodist Church
More than two hundred attended a Memorial Day service at the Methodist church sponsored by the American Legion and Auxiliary. Attorney Golden P. Kratz gave the address, Dorothy Anderson led processions, Rev. C. R. Tanner gave invocation and benediction, and Alfred Arnell presided. Afterward, services moved to the cemetery where flags were lowered and a consecration at the war dead’s grave followed. The cemetery looked well kept despite dry weather, many visitors attended from outside the state, and new stones and markers appeared with irrigation work continuing for the grounds and trees planted last year thriving.
