Fire of undetermined origin badly damaged sheds at the Waite residence just west of the Potter hotel Sunday forenoon. The alarm and rapid fire department response kept the blaze under control quickly, with buildings heavily damaged but mostly empty interiors spared. Firemen left church service to respond to the scene.
First Lutheran Church announces Sunday service plan with church school at 2 15 and worship at 3 p m on June 18 outdoor services at Fuller ranch five miles west of Sidney. The Potter Garage has added two pieces of modern equipment a high grade electric welding outfit and a glass grinding and beveling outfit The welder speeds work and the grinder allows cutting and fitting glass for car doors and windshields of any size or shape Mr Brady aims to make the garage service second to none in the region.

About 200 beauty girls in the cast and special train to Washington for Roosevelt inauguration noted. Manager Boyd extends run to three days with continuous shows and standard prices 25 and 35 cents with 10 cents for children under twelve.

Fred C. Johnson and LeRoy Witt collided while chasing a fly ball in the Potter-Bucker hill game. Witt secured the ball while Johnson suffered a shiner in the unintended collision. The injury is minor and Johnson jokes it could have been worse.
Mr and Mrs Emiel Cords visited Dalton Gurley and Sidney last Friday to promote the Cords rings business. They were business callers in the three towns seeking customers and partnerships for their ring operation.

Installed in 1919 by Farmers Union. coal costs made steam power unprofitable. diesel replaced steam. boiler sold for $25. many such units idle nationwide.
John Witt owner and manager of Witt Milling & Grain was severely injured last Friday when a stair flight gave way on the mill shaft causing a twelve foot drop. He sustained heavy bruises and head impact but no broken bones and is slowly improving at home. He had recent near misses and remains limited in duties at the mill.
George Gunderson Jr waived preliminary hearing and pleaded not guilty before county attorney Kepler. He was bound over to district court for November on a charge of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to murder. Complainant Karl Fricke alleges a blackjack billy used to strike Fricke in front of a village board meeting near the print shop.
Mrs Slocumb underwent a tonsillectomy and an operation to remove a growth in the nose during their eastern state visit. The couple hope the procedures will greatly improve her health.
Mr and Mrs Earl Stearns and their son from Scottsbluff spent several days this week in Potter visiting D C Shea at his home. Mrs BE C Shea of Scottsbluff is visiting at the home of her son Dave Shea and his family.
G A S riffs on Stevie bragging about talk length and speed, bets on ladies talkers, reminds newlyweds John Heimer and Clarence Rogers of a promised cigar from the Gasman, and jokes about watering a flock. He references a fire started by Karl Fricke, church, trust in the Lord, a duckish grant for rain, fishing tips, a lodge visit, Tammany Hall, and praises the local fire brigade while planning a $200 donation to them once funds allow.
Over the past two weeks considerable remodeling and overhaul work has been underway at Farmers National company elevator. A crew from headquarters is working the elevator over in preparation for the upcoming rush season this summer. Donald Wills serves as the contractor in charge of raising the scales and ensuring proper drainage.
Mr and Mrs VV D Powell and son and Mrs Biggs and Betty of Sidney visited friends in Potter Sunday evening.
James B. Copley aged 80 died in Sidney where he had lived for 15 years. Wired C Schmidt 56 of Chappell died at home after twenty years as a Devel County farmer. The Gallio post office 28 miles north of Pine Bluffs will be discontinued, established 27 years ago by Gallio Conneily.
Roy Anderson, a farm boy near Sidney, sustained two broken cheek bones after being kicked and trampled by a frightened horse. The incident occurred on the farm, with no further details available.
Union Pacific plans to reopen the trip track in Sidney with a possible crew of 25 men working part time. Harry L. Reinmuth, south of Broadwater, lost 97 young turkeys when a recent hail storm drove the hems from their nests.
James Voight of Gallio badly burned filling a tractor with gas by lantern light at a farm scene. Glenn Riley and Troy Stateman pleaded guilty at Ogallala to stealing three saddles valued at 125 dollars from the George McGinley ranch, captured in Wyoming. George Haberkorn, 44, prominent farmer west of Pine Bluffs, died after homesteading Horse Creek in 1911 and moving to the Pine Bluffs farm in 1926.
Frank Stone of Laramie was fined $100 in Cheyenne for possession and violation of the prohibition law. Frank Persee of Divide received a $100 fine for possession and manufacture of prohibited goods.
Wyoming implements a state highway patrol to enforce traffic laws, investigate highway crimes, collect gas tax and vehicle licenses, inspect livestock in transit, and serve court papers statewide.
George Shulze who managed the Farmers Union Service station at Gurley for the past two years has resigned to take a lumber company position in Denver. Walter Borcher, formerly of Pleasant View, will become the new manager.
George Karlstrum and his family of Pine Bluffs travel east to attend the National Convention of the W A at Detroit as a delegate, then visit the Century of Progress in Chicago.
Halsey Fuller son of Clark Fuller and Broadwater high graduate has passed all examinations for Annapolis and is ordered to report for enlistment June 15. He will travel with his parents and family to attend the Century of Progress en route to Annapolis.
Mr and Mrs A A Kannow marked their 55th wedding anniversary at daughter Mrs R H Barber’s residence in Paxton. Kannow immigrated from Germany to Nebraska 75 years ago and has resided in Nebraska 61 years. They have five children, twelve grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Over 500 people attended the musical contest at Pine Bluffs. In the old fiddler division first went to Fred Brodine, second Pat Benskin, third Mark Claypool. Modern division winners include Ed Land, Stub Land, S. H. Davis. Callers were Jack Bruegman, Rual Shindler, Hy Huggers. Accordion winners Art Reher and Bill Shepard. Harmonica winners M. R. McClurg and Albert Foster.
Miss Mary Cargill of Kimball daughter of the Observer publisher sustained severe head cuts needing 100 stitches after a collision with a car driven by Frank Mann of Casper on a Laramie street. Her companion Will Callicotte of Laramie broke a shoulder. Both are Wyoming State University students.
Fort Bridger east of Evanston Wyoming has been acquired by the historical commission and turned into an historical park The old commissary building will house a very complete collection of western items and artifacts.
The Potter village board meeting on June 3 1933 approved an emergency rate of 4 cents per kilowatt for June through September, hearing input from Dix officials and the Potter Volunteer Fire Department. They reviewed numerous bills, granted a billiard hall license renewal, and considered a public dance hall license with conditions. A call for bids for marshal, cemetery, streets personnel was announced and adjournment followed.
Orville Wills, who has studied at Kearney, reached Potter last week to assist his father Donald Wis this summer with work at the Wills Way Cabin camp.
The fort founded by Jim Bridger before 1843 split from the American Fur Company, shifted from Mexican to U.S. soil after 1848, and changed hands again in 1853 when Bridger sold it to the Mormons for 8000 dollars. The Mormons abandoned and burned much of the complex in 1857, after which General Albert Sydney Johnston secured it for the U.S. government and troops stayed until 1890. A Pony Express relay station on the grounds still stands with stalls and hitching rings, claimed as the last remaining example.
