Floods and Tornadoes Cut Deep Across Nebraska Colorado and Wyoming
A vast flood and tornado disaster across Wyoming Colorado and Nebraska left about 150 dead and extensive damage to livestock crops and farms on 2000 to 3000 farms. The Denver area escaped major floods while northeastern Colorado and river basins endured overwhelming flooding washing out bridges and disrupting communications. Deaths include a Wyoming couple and family drowned when a bridge washed out near Glendo and a physician and relatives drowned in Wheatland. Total property losses run into many millions with government aid deemed necessary. May 1935 marked one of the wettest Mays on record with 10.94 inches since January and 5.11 inches in Potter for May observed.

Western Nebraska welcomes warm sunshine after a history making wet spell. From April 16 to date there have been 27 wet days in 52, with 20 days of copious rain bringing total to nearly 11 inches, more than all of 1934.
