County Publ ications Awarded to Sidney Telegraph

Newly elected county commissioners Glenn Bales and Ed Erickson took oath yesterday noon. The county board awarded the Sidney Telegraph the county publications bid at 750 dollars plus 150 for the personal assessment roll, higher than Potter Review. Telegraph also won the supplies contract totaling 1610 dollars for 16 major items. Review was lower on 1b items. Dr. Cook was named county physician. Simpkins reappointed courthouse janitors. John Billiter named highway commissioner with Kep among new officers taking office this week.

Rebuilding Electric Lines in Potter Town

Potter village undertakes electrical line rebuild to handle higher load. West town work centers near the schoolhouse and east district with EH. Is. Chase of Potter and Mr. Call of Sidney guiding the project, Emil Leafdale as ground man. Weather permitting, completion is expected this week with planned brief power interruptions while lines are charged and transformers installed.

Mrs Sarah McFadden Dies at 86 in Sidney Nebraska

Funeral services were held for Mrs. Sarah McFadden 86 at the Catholic church in Sidney. She died Friday from complications after a fractured hip suffered at home. Her husband Hugh McFadden, an Indian scout with Buffalo Bill Cody, died in 1924. Survivors include children Mayme, Julia, Sadie, Catherine, John, Grace, and Rose, with three grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Burial followed in the family plot at the Catholic cemetery.

Potter town team beat Sidney Knights 54 to 39 on their home court last Thursday. Fisher scored 26 for Potter and Parker Nelson added 16. Rolph led Sidney with 15 points and H Loebe had 12.

Moisture fell heavier in 1938 than any year since 1929, with total precipitation and snowfall patterns indicating broad distribution except for January and February.
