Six light snows in 21 days totaled 0.96 inches of moisture across Ripley with eight percent snowfall, 60 above to 10 below zero, and 14 clear days. Four snows occurred at night or dawn, one inch and a half brought over 0.25 inch moisture, most melted soon after fall while subzero cold reduced moisture in later snow.
A large Christmas tree stands at the north intersection on Main Street and was lit Wednesday evening for the first time. City engineers are installing decorative lights across streets to illuminate the town for the holiday season.

Saturday night a Kimball County car in the northeast part of town caught fire under the hood. The occupants spotted the blaze, stopped the car, and extinguished it with dirt and sand before the fire wagon arrived. The car bore Kimball County license, names of occupants not learned.

The Potter board of trustees votes to grant two weeks of free electricity from December 20, 1937, to January 3, 1938, for all customers using current. Meters will be read December 20 and January 3, allowing unlimited electricity use with no charges to encourage festive lighting.
Local representatives of the American Legion and Auxiliary report a very interesting and profitable district convention held at Mitchell on Monday. Attendees from here included Mr. and Mrs. C. E. Biggs, George Thirlwall, Ralph Robertson, Alfred Ainell, Mr. and Mrs. Albert Jacobson and Lawrence H. Schwartz.
Pastor R Tanner leads worship next Sunday at 11:00 with the adult choir and 7:30 for the young people's choir. Epworth League rally will be held at chap pell this Friday evening for all attendees.
Edward Uite and his son Tenneth spent the week visiting Potter and left on Wednesday for an extended journey out west. They will travel a northern route to reach the Guy Hite home in Washington for a visit before continuing their search for a new location.

W G Benschoter and Arlo Fisher visited Alliance midweek returning Thursday. They marketed 218 head of turkeys for Mr. Fisher.
Andrew Nelson, owner of the Neilson Friendly Camp, dislocated his shoulder last Friday while working on a roof. He loosened a strung electrical wire causing the arm to swing, resulting in a full shoulder dislocation. He was taken to Kimball, anesthetic given, and the joint reseated. He remains at home recovering satisfactorily.
The trial of Lieut. Gov. W. H. Jorgensen and co defendant Jules H. Johnson on an embezzlement charge will begin next Monday. They are accused of embezzling 916 dollars of building and loan stock in September 1934 from C. C. Kaderli of Potter, per state press reports.
The A. B. Danielson family, returning from Scottsbluff to Kimball, escaped injury when their car spun three times on Stage Hill after hitting icy roads. The vehicle stopped off the road against a steep bank and was only slightly damaged. The Danielsons formerly lived in Potter.
The Chick Boyes players present Te Brat a comedy Saturday night with Billie Nash in the title role. Alongside the play there will be vaudeville and musical numbers for theatre goers.
Roy Peterson's funeral and burial in Dix cemetery were held Tuesday afternoon, following the death of his father a week earlier. Local social notes list numerous visits and engagements across Dix, Kimball, Potter, and surrounding communities, including callers, trips, lodge meetings, and a blue rock shooting event at the Lester Stecher farm with many named participants.
Mrs C E Biggs and Mrs Sanders took Donald Biggs to Alliance on Thursday where he boarded a train for Sheridan Wyoming to resume his work.
Local grade rooms and the high school assembly will feature a glittering Yuletide tree with seasonal decorations. Students selling seals to aid the Nebraska Tuberculosis Association may win prizes and support a worthy cause.
Mrs Fern Hoobler and Mr and Mrs Rosse called Wednesday afternoon at the Dewey Larson home. Mr and Mrs Whitney called at the Jens Jensen home Sunday afternoon. Ernest Tracy spent a few days last week at the Carl Larson home. Many visits follow at various homes including Allan Nelson, Jim Bertramson, Howard Madden, Svend Olsen, Lloyd Shaw, V A Nelson, Edwards, Jens Olsen, George Whitney, and others. Several Sunday dinners and evenings are noted with Nelsons, Olsens, and Bertramsons among those visiting.
The Potter Nebraska village board met December 6 1937 at the review office. Present were Chairman Witt and trustees Brady Hagemeister Schwartz Arnold absent. Claims were read and allowed. Discussed reading light meters December 20 and giving two weeks free current. Bond refunds totaling 4000 dollars approved from operating funds. Board adjourned. Also note on a SexTorpe Farmers Union meeting at A M Leafdale home with discussion on cod storage and packing plants and dues reminder.
Word reached here of the death of Miss Luella Harrison daughter of Mr and Mrs Harrison former Potter folks She died Monday from hemorrhage of the brain caused by heart trouble She had many friends here who extend sympathy Funeral services were held Thursday at 10 a m from St Patricks church in Lincoln
