Bowman and Childers Given Life Sentences

Win Bowman aged 25 and Orville Childers pleaded guilty to murder in a stabbing and robbery case in Sidney. Jury imposed life terms with recommended mercy for imprisonment. Officers credited for swift arrest, confessions, and sentence. Both admitted they obtained $2.60 in the robbery as part of the fatal crime.

Large Attendance at Community Club Meet

The Potter Compnnils Puoseers club enjoyed a done fee and a social time at the Stines cate Wednesday evening. A large number was present, with interest in boosting the community. Minutes of the last two meetings were read and approved. The committee reported on getting P.W. labor to aid needy farmers. Boy Scout and Campfire work were discussed, and $3.00 was donated to the organization. The meeting adjourned to the Masonic Hall where S et. Wiemers had prepared an educational program of mov ing pictures and lectures, enjoyed by all. Dean Taemerter will be the next program leader. Alfred Arne, reporter.

Don Biggs Puts On Local Court Show In Sheridan

Don Biggs, long based near Sheridan, Wyoming, is gaining form in basketball with the New York store team of Sheridan. The squad recently won the local branch championship by beating Carroll’s five 45 to 20, with Biggs and Browne standout players. Wilfred Winners joined as another key figure. The team faces the Denver Pigs at Sheridan on December 7.

Methodist Church Notes and Evening Services

The church reports good attendance at the 11 o'clock service last Sunday and invites all to attend both morning and evening services next Sunday. A young people's choir is being organized under Syron Johnson and will sing at the evening service. Epworth League members are invited to a rally at Chappell Friday evening, December 14.

Three Family Deaths Across Consecutive Days

The Sunday Denver Post reports the deaths of Dr. H T Olson of Eugene Oregon and Mr and Mrs Fred Wittemyer of Boulder on successive days. Mrs Olson sister of Mrs Callaway and Mrs Place. Wittemyers parents of the Callaways. Relatives were summoned to Boulder and Omaha area. The Calloways and Places have moved to Nebraska. Both men previously held county superintendent positions.

Husbands and Wife Die Eight Hours Apart

The state press reports the deaths of John Bauer aged 68 of Hallington Nebraska and his wife. Bauer was a step-brother of Art Harms of Potter. Harms could not attend the funeral. Mrs Bauer suffered partial paralysis and died eight hours after her husband from heart illness and complications.

Snowfall Drapes Area In Calm Monday Weather

An inch of fluffy snow fell across the area Monday morning with a second fall in the evening. Total moisture measured 0.14 inches by a local observer and most of the snow vanished by Wednesday as the ground soaked it up. The storm was largely local, fell without wind, and reduced visibility to a few blocks at times. Last week’s precipitation topped half an inch, helping thirsty soil. Temperatures dipped at night and rose in the day, and Wednesday’s clear sky let the sun melt much of the snow.
