Farmers Union Rally Set for Potter December 17

Farmers from across the area will gather at Potter M. E. Church basement on Saturday December 17 at 11 a.m. The event includes a noon dinner and a 2 p.m. program featuring a friendly debate between Potter locals and the southern Potter group plus other additions. Organizers promise a large, profitable day of sociability.

Potter High School girls routed Dix 35 to 5 led by Doris Hagemeister and Lillian Brady with strong guard play by Mildred Jacobson. Potter boys crushed Dix 93 to 4 as every Coyotes player starred, showcasing aerial leaping and team work in a decisive home victory.

Annual Bazaar and Dinner Tomorrow in Potter

The Ladies Aid Society hosts their annual bazaar and chicken dinner tomorrow in the Rome hotel Potter. Doors open at 7 am with a noon dinner priced 50 cents for adults and 25 cents for children. Proceeds support gifts and crafts as homemade articles and a Pigely Wiggly candy store by the M KE Day school children add to the event.

The Potter Literary Society hosts a high school program in the schoolhouse auditorium tonight with a dime admission for adults and a jitney for youths. Cave collapse kills Scottsbluff child in play area

A five year old girl, daughter of Bert Tompkins of Scottsbluff, died when a cave in covered her and other children while they played inside. Authorities described it as a tragic accident occurring at the cave site near Scottsbluff.

Bayard Woman Heroically Seeks Help After Car Overturns

Mrs. M. A. Buxton of Bayard suffered a broken arm and two broken ribs after her car overturned. She walked several miles to obtain aid for her son, whose life was under the vehicle. The crash was caused by tire trouble.

West End Quarrel Over Hog Dispute Leads to Peace

Two young men in Banner County clashed when a hog ran through a cornfield and was injured by the outraged owner. The county court heard the case and both parties agreed to keep the peace going forward.

Snow blankets Cheyenne County after December snow

Last Friday a general snow swept western Nebraska and by Saturday morning a five inch depth covered the ground without wind or drifting. The melt has been slow as temperatures hover near freezing. Warmer weather is expected, promising rapid melt. Farmers welcome the moisture. The Gift Shop on the Corner in Sidney advertises French plate mirrors for $2.95.

Farmers Union builds scaffold for coal conveyors at plant

The Farmers Union Trading Company plans a scaffold for coal conveyors to move coal from railroad cars to the power plant. A pit will allow emptying from the bottom, with coal lifted and carried by an endless belt over to the plant. A ten horsepower motor will drive the system, reducing labor in wagon loading and hauling.
