Legion Meet Elects 1922 Officers at Potter Post No 291
Potter American Legion Post No 291 met at the Masonic hall to elect 1922 officers. Alfred Arnel was chosen as Commander with L R Hager Adjutant and J R Arnel as Vice Commander and service officer. D F Enevoldsen as vice commander and employment officer, H Schellenberg as finance officer, Clarence Johnson as chaplain, Geo Thirwall as historian, Fred C Johnson as athletic officer, and Lawrence Schwartz as sergeant at arms. Dues were raised to 3.00 per year and the post aims for fifty members next year with a basketball team active in Bushnell next Saturday. Money from ticket sales pays last year’s baseball debt.

A night blaze destroyed the Potter Battery and Filling Station on the Lincoln highway in Potter. Explosions fueled by sulphuric acid fumes and denatured alcohol sent flames through the building, with Roy Strom owning the equipment and the Mutual Oil Company owning the building. Firefighters battled the inferno for minutes, saving nothing but ashes and scrap iron while two men, Mr. Reddy and Mr. High, suffered burns.
