From December 15 to January 3, all municipal light customers receive free electricity. Meters will be read December 15 and December bills issued from those readings. The policy covers residential and commercial users, a long-standing, unique holiday practice in Potter.

The annual Farmers Union county convention will be held in Sidney on Wednesday December 13. Each family should bring two pies for the luncheon. Meeting begins at 10 30 in the forenoon.
Mr and Mrs Herbert Johnson and children and Mr and Mrs Ray Wick horst and children were Thanksgiving guests at the Enevoldsen home.
Rural electrification may reach the valley sooner than expected as REA lines extend to Pine Bluffs and Kimball County. A mass meeting Saturday at 7:30 p.m. at the Dix I O O F hall will have RBA officials explain the proposal. Dix officials and Potter officials urge local business people farmers and officials to attend to learn details and potential connections to Seminoe Pathinder reservoirs and future western power linkups.
Parties wishing to help the Legion Auxiliary fill their Christmas cheer baskets may leave donations at Seyfarg store Johnson store or with Mrs Ralph Robertson on or before December 21. Donations for these baskets will be greatly appreciated.
Chris Christensen was appointed marshal and caretaker of parks and cemetery by the town Board Monday evening and was sworn in Tuesday. He replaces Thomas Iverson who steps down due to illness. Christensen will receive a salary of $30 per month.
Thanksgiving day visitors at the Joe Nelson residence included Mr and Mrs Emil Nelson and children Mr and Mrs Leslie Wills Mr and Mrs Willard Wills Mrs Jennie McAdam and Sittewart Nelson.
Engineers Hendee and Nelson strung several bright light strings on the main street and more will be added once bulbs arrive. The village plans a large municipal tree at the intersection, with the light plant frontage, cedar trees, and the Methodist church all decorated. Free current runs December 15 to January 3, promising one of the nation’s best displays.
The Ladies Guild annual bazaar and luncheon will be at Luthoeran church parlors on Saturday December 9. Lunches begin at 11 00 am featuring creamed chicken on hot biscuits salad and sweet potatoes baked ham sandwich pie cake coffee priced at 10 5 10 cents. Many useful articles for gifts will be offered. The public is invited to attend the bazaar and luncheon.
Pleasant View and area residents shared several social visits and Thanksgiving gatherings. W D Mathewson hosted Thursday and Sunday visits with the Stanleys, Gorrenson, and Morrow families while Carol was brought home from Scottsbluff for vacation. Other meals and visits occurred at the homes of Schuesslers, Hilperts, Mangels, Baack, and Schuessler, with guests including Gilmor Sachs, G Jacksons, Gerlers, and Fiehlers, reflecting a busy holiday period across Sidney and nearby towns.
Mr and Mrs Sam Wickstrom entertained on Thanksgiving day for Mr and Mrs Alec Sterling and children Mr and Mrs Wade Sterling and children Mr and Mrs Kenneth Wickstrom Claus Arp and Harry Anp in a family gathering reflecting a community celebration.
Miss Avis Hill and Mr. Clifford Herboldsheimer were married in a small ceremony at the R B Hill home at noon on Thanksgiving Day. Rev C R Tanner officiated. Bride wore light blue and carried chrysanthemums and roses. Ardith Mattison was bridesmaid Kinley Herboldsheimer best man. A sumptuous dinner followed. Both are well known locally and will live on their farm.
Governor Nels Smith and party stopped at the Farmers station Sunday night on an eastern trip and inquired for members of the Peterson family, old friends of the governor. Station attendants said the governor appeared very pleasant and mighty nice. Unable to locate any Petersons, the party moved on.
Mrs Anna Graham and Mrs Sarah Imes visited the Johna Davis home in Kimball for Thanksgiving. Albert Gunderson drove to Chadron to pick up Dix youngsters at school. The Dix solo club traveled to Albin to play the Albin solo club. the Dix boys lost. Several families attended a 25th wedding anniversary in Upland. Additional visits occurred in Sidney, Marsene, Scottsbluff, and Oregon.
Mrs Evan Stines and Miss Joyce Schmidt attended the Methodist church wedding in Sidney Wednesday afternoon uniting Evelyn Tompkins and Donald Jorgensen. Tompkins formerly lived with her parents Mr and Mrs Jess Tompkins and attended our school. Jorgensen is a son of A Jorgensen of Sidney.
Ferd Wiekhorst was surprised Sunday afternoon as his relatives visited to congratulate him on his birthday. Present were Mr and Mrs Herbert Johnson and children, Mr and Mrs Fred Prevoldsen and children, Mr and Mrs Edn Webkhorst and children, Mr and Mrs Leslie Wiekhorst and son, Mr and Mrs Ray Wiekhorst and children, and Miss Catherine Wiekhorst.
Second and third grades held a Thanksgiving party while Mary Margaret Jaeger celebrated her eighth birthday with cookies and punctuality cards. Fourth to sixth grades surprised Miss Weal on her birthday with games and refreshments. Junior high enjoyed Thanksgiving program as seventh and eighth grades performed a play titled I’d Be Thankful If. Teachers and students shared vacation plans and campus updates.
An advertisement touts the Lincoln Journal at 4.00 a year by mail and 12c weekly by carrier with 25c weekly payments. It claims lower prices than rival papers, promises near free Sunday content, and lists mail and carrier rates for Nebraska and northern Kansas. It notes openings for carrier routes in numerous towns.
Mr and Mrs C. E. Simon and two daughters, Mr and Mrs Wim Simon, and Mr and Mrs George Young with children from North Platte visited Mrs Hazel Sleeth at her home on Sunday.
Readiness is assured for a community outdoor Christmas program Saturday afternoon December 16 featuring songs by selected singers and other music. The event aims to be brief due to cold weather with Santa Claus appearing at the end to hand out candy and nuts to every child in the community.

At Stines Cafe the Potter Community Boosters met and served 18 plates in a fine December gathering. Alfred Arnel led the program introducing Harry Courtright whose talk traced the early cattle industry and western development. Next meeting set for January 3 at Tebrinke cafe with Lloyd Juelfs as leader.
Thomas Iverson, patient at Cheyenne Veterans Hospital after transfer from Sidney, rested easier but suffered a stroke after moving there for further treatment. Relatives were called to the bedside. Mrs Iverson stayed in Cheyenne and later returned to Potter. She says he is making some progress toward recovery.
The Standard Bearer girls met at the Robertson home Monday evening for a Christmas party. Mildred Robertson and Dorothy Anderson were hostesses. Twenty three girls and their sponsor Bammaline Mac Laughlim attended, with Mrs Robertson and Miss Minnie Rohlfing visiting.
The Ladies Aid society will meet Wednesday afternoon December 18 with hostesses M Ralph Merscheim Mrs Albert Jackson Mrs A B Connell Mrs Dewey Larson Mrs Theodore Carlson and Mrs Dean Hagemeister Devotions led by Miss Anna Connell Roll call Christmas Bible verse.
