Dee Ward fell near the Pyle farm southwest of Chappell while returning from duck hunting and broke his right leg above the knee. He started a fire in dead leaves to signal neighbors, which T. O. Carter and Ora Kauffman spotted about 7 p.m. He crawled to stay warm for about two hours before being taken to Chappell for treatment and was reported improving.

Out Door Christmas Program Set by American Legion

Moving House From Potter Farm to McMillen Farm
A one and a half story house once occupied by Floyd Sheets and family near Potter is being moved this week to the Art McMillen farms east of Potter a distance of seven or eight miles. A Sterling contractor is handling the move with power provided by Ed Brich. The structure must traverse a roundabout route via several farms to descend into the valley. On Tuesday night the house rested at a railroad crossing five miles east of town and movers planned to cross the tracks and highway the next day. The house and accompanying buildings on the farm were recently sold at auction after the owner decided to clear land of improvements. the house was the last to be moved.

Aged Man Dies After Farmhouse Fire Accident
Ellis W. Goolsby a 73 year old farmer of Wim Colorado died in Kimball hospital from burns suffered when kerosene used to start a fire exploded at his stepson's farm near New Raymer. He fought the flames but died conscious, with second degree burns covering about 90 percent of his body.
