Five Area Residents Die In Indianapolis Air Crash
Five area residents perished in a mid air collision near Indianapolis on Sept 9. The dead include George E Dalbert of Delhi Hills, Burney M Marshall Jr of Summit, and James C Rose of Price Hill. Marshall was a senior assistant sanitary engineer with the Public Health Service. Rose, a Cincinnati firefighter and later driver for Clark Van Lines, left behind a wife Shirley and six children. Dalbert and his wife Sallie were partners in the Dalbert Woodruff Funeral Home. Survivors, memorials, and lengthy hometown connections are noted.

A runaway car crashed through a Price Hill living room wall trapping Alma Bailey and Junior Thurman inside a house at 398 Warsaw Ave. The driver Sam Nourtsis and several others were treated at St. Francis Hospital and released. The house owner is Roger Shepherd. Alma is 14 and Junior is 12.

Two Dater Junior High students, Richard A. Parnell 13 and Darryl R. Hensley 14, were killed when struck by westbound B&O train 93 on River Road shortly after 7:30 a.m. on foggy morning.
