Smoking Sparks 8500 Blaze Kills Father Of Eleven
A $8500 fire, caused by careless smoking, killed William Ryan 53 in his 1807 Minion Ave home. Firefighters from Engine Co. 24 found the fire starting in Ryan’s first floor bedroom and spreading upstairs. Ryan’s wife Gertrude and seven younger children were left homeless and are staying with relatives while neighbors donated aid.
