Auto Show entrant Douglas places seventh in ICAS event

Norman Douglas of 94 Candlelite Terrace finished seventh in the 1968 69 International Championship Auto Shows with his 1923 Ford, which also placed third in best red standings at the Cavalcade of Customs in Cincinnati. He collected prizes including a Hurst package, ICAS jacket, Edelbrock manifold, Classic wax, spark plugs and more.

Stricker and Dieckmann Win 1969 Scholar-Athlete Awards

Elder High School graduate Tom Stricker and Western Hills High School graduate Ron Dieckmann were named 1969 winners of the Andrew P. Gallagher Award for top scholar-athletes. Stricker led in academics, played football and track, and planned priesthood studies. Dieckmann ranked second in class, led student leadership, and earned athletic honors. Bob Siekmann of Oak Hills received All-America mention and set scoring records, with further star pitching in the Ohio high school all-star baseball series.

Shrine Night at Crosley Field Before Reds Cubs Game

More than 500 members of the Syrian Temple will take part in Shrine Night at Crosley Field Friday evening before the Reds Cubs series opener. The 7:20 p.m. program features an 85 member brass band and parade units, with clowns and a Dixieland Band entertaining fans. Ticket outlets include Crosley Field, Reds downtown office, Brendamour stores, and Reds outlets.

UC Honors Area Seniors With Admission With Distinction Grants

University of Cincinnati President Walter C. Langsam announced names of students receiving Admission With Distinction certificates. Recipients, ranking in the top five percent of their class and scoring well on entrance exams, each receive a $50 education supplies award at the University Bookstore. Zone 5 include Joseph P. McCable and Kenneth R. Wauligman. Zone 38 include Patricia Jean Wilfong Barbara L. Jordan James W. Holtkamp Marcia L. Johnston Steven E. Duebber Harry W. Haverkos and June Ann Davidson.
