High Rise Housing Plan for Senior Citizens Centered on West Eighth Street
The Cincinnati Metropolitan Housing Authority plans a nine story Y shaped senior housing center on the Olden estate near St. Joseph Cemetery with 200 units. Architect G E Diekema and Associates designed the project for Nathan Downey with a turn key approach. Units include refrigerators stoves built in cabinets and accessibility features. Eligibility targets residents 62 and older with income limits of 3400 for one or 4600 for two. Local services funds are paid in lieu of taxes to support police fire and schools.

Date Set for 24th Turtle Derby at Mt Alverno School
June 20 marks the 24th annual Turtle Derby hosted by Price Hill Lions Club led by Paul B. Stueve. Twelve events feature 144 turtles with a sweepstakes finale, proceeds aiding the blind and sight-impaired in Western Hills. Lightning Strikes Two Price Hill Homes
Lightning hit two Price Hill residences last week with minor damage. Fire Co 24 reported a strike at Edward J. Bacon’s home 1142 Coronado Ave on June 2 blowing a fuse but causing no loss. A second strike at Walter Scott’s home 4789 Clevesdale Dr caused $100 damage.

CBS Founder And Teacher Rupert Foster Dies At 82
Professor Rupert Clinton Foster 82 founder of the Cincinnati Bible Seminary died Saturday at his summer home in Michigan. Private services were held Tuesday at Calbert and Woodruff Funeral Home. Foster taught at CBS since 1924 and authored several religious works. He was a long time Church of Christ minister with degrees from Transylvania Yale and Harvard. Memorials may fund his publication fund.

The first 1 500 seat section of Western Hills High School's future stadium is assembled on the practice field by woodshop students under Vic Gausman. Steel arrived after a two month delay caused by a truckers strike and was unloaded by Buckeye Sign Co. Ric Meyer, a 1954 West High graduate, owns the firm.
