A massive bridge span on the St Lawrence River collapsed at 1 30 pm in Quebec. The disaster left a death toll uncertain from three to twenty five. A special train later ferried twenty injured workers to a hospital.
Berlin reports Russian attempts to seize Halicz on the Dniester were repelled by German forces led by Count von Bothmer. The Allies claim Austrians began evacuating Halicz Saturday night and blowing up forts as Russians press the defense of Lemberg.
Five German attacks against French gains on the Somme front were beaten back last night by French defenses. The German forces reportedly used heavy fire and burning liquids in the assaults, according to the war office.
Four men fought over a mature goat on Peach and Pecan streets on a Saturday morning. Officers Adams Moody Doyle and Burch report shots from a shotgun and a pistol during the melee. Lamont Marshall Andrew Marshall Ed Marshall and John Juzang faced judge Edington after the incident.

The Aero Club of America reports Washington has informed that the war department will train hundreds of national guardsmen to become military aviators. The training provision is in the new army reorganization act with pay and allowances for men of same grades. Twelve squadrons are to be organized in the national guard.

The delegation will ask Mobile's chamber to support locating the farm loan bank in Alabama. The Montgomery letter names Michael Cody, F D Kohn, Ralph D Quinesberry, Clayton T Tullig, and Bruce Kennedy as representatives.
The Gulf Coast Produce Exchange management calls on farmers to attend an 11 o'clock Wednesday morning meeting to discuss a creamery project.
