Delinquent Taxpayers Cleaned From List Reminders
More than five hundred names were scratched from the current year's delinquent tax list and will be filed in chancery court by City Attorney Bonn after the close of business Thursday. Taxpayers flocked to the Tax Collector's office as word spread about rising court costs, with some paying up to avoid $10 in fees. One case involved 85 cents in bond taxes and 23 cents in municipal taxes, illustrating the high cost of proceedings relative to small debts.
