Belgrade reports on March 12 that allied Balkan nations will study mediation by powers, though conditions may block acceptance. An unofficial announcement cites allied consent as the governing factor for any action.

Alabama Railroad Commission suspends its two and a half cent passenger rate order for Louisville and Nashville until May 1 to give Federal Judge W S Grubb of Birmingham more time to decide the injunction case. Judge Grubb is expected to reach a decision after the extended period.
Chairman Jacob Reiss announces the booster trip for the Mobile Mississippi coast shoppers train may exceed 100 participants by Thursday noon. By Wednesday night 94 had signed with plans to visit Pascagoula and other Mississippi coast towns. The group will parade through Mobile’s business district upon return as part of St Patrick's Day events. Gulfport and Biloxi representatives reached Mobile to assist.
Washington reports that Central and South American diplomats welcomed President Wilson s stance on Latin American affairs. They approve a policy to discourage revolutions while strengthening friendly ties and aiding peaceful trade growth with southern nations. Senate and House foreign affairs committees also expressed general approval of the approach.

Springfield Illinois on March 12 reports the ninth joint ballot for the long term U.S. senator produced Sher man 77 votes, Lewis 82 votes, and Funk 21 votes with no winner.

A new anti race track gambling bill was introduced in Albany on March 12. Assemblyman Knight leads a measure seeking to override a recent appellate division decision that permitted bets. the bill targets all forms of betting on the race track.
