In Greenville South Carolina on January 2 Oscar Lanford was killed by his father J W Lanford at Lanford station as they confronted three alleged robbers. The elder man mistook his son for one of the robbers and fired. the son also fired wounding his father. The robbers had reportedly fled after the earlier store robberies.
