Rate Hearings Report From Mobile Advocate Cobb
R G Cobb of the Mobile Chamber of Commerce returned from the Alabama public service commission hearings in Montgomery. He cited three Mobile matters before the commission two under advisement and one amicably settled. An agreement cut rates on diversified products, while other cases on price hikes and blackstrap rates remained under advisement. The Louisville and Nashville railroad proposed 37 cents per 100 pounds for blackstrap Mobile to Greenville and Way points, later suggesting 22 cents to all points, opposed as too high. 18 cents was deemed reasonable for Mobile, with Montgomery favoring 13 cents.
