The Joy Luck Club film review shows mixed reception
Wayne Wang's adaptation of Amy Tan's best selling novel follows four mothers and their daughters through intertwining stories. While performances by the mothers deserve praise, the film's nonlinear structure and dense scope hinder clarity and pacing. Despite flaws, fans of the book may enjoy, and matinee viewing is suggested over full price.
