Lee College expands its honors program with new courses including Introductory Inorganic Chemistry Introductory Organic Chemistry Environmental Science English Composition I II Introduction to the Humanities General Physics and more The program requires two criteria such as ACT score SAT score top 10 percent GPA or successful interview transcripts mark completion at graduation for recognition Call the Counseling Center or Donnetta Suchon for details.

Memorials honor Don Perry longtime Lee College teacher
Don Perry a Lee College math teacher for almost thirty years died at 56 after a long illness. Born in Highlands and raised in Baytown he taught in Houston and Highlands before joining SC. He led church work and served on the local school board. Memorials fund a library book drive and a scholarship in his name with donors listed on book plates.

Former U.S. Senator Fred R. Harris spoke at Lee College during a Tucker Hall seminar on President Clinton and Congress gridlock. He urged one party control to ease gridlock, endorsed the Clinton health plan with caveats, and reflected on the U.S. system’s workings. In observance of Banned Books Week the Lee College Bookstore displayed works banned for various reasons. Nabokov Lolita Maya Angelou I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings and The American Heritage College Dictionary were shown along with many children's books. The manager said the display aims to raise awareness of freedom of speech issues caused by narrow minded groups. See Books Page 4.
