Falling rates shrink scholarship funds. Lee College Foundation approves a new policy allowing stocks and government securities to grow returns while safeguarding patron contributions. The plan uses TexPool as a holding vehicle and caps stock exposure at ten percent, aiming to increase awards from the reduced earnings.
On August 26 between 2:30 and 3:15 am security officer Mark Jaime found the Texas flag missing from a campus flag pole. No suspects or leads have emerged, and authorities note the old rope mechanism made theft easy while the newer flag has an anti theft lock.

Lee College announces a broad recruitment of instructors across English music athletics and other subjects. Notable hires include Sheridan Nichols Kathleen Sydnor Sunny Jiang Laurel Anthony Connie Hultin and Barbara Gorzycki among others. New postings span drafting math nursing and speech with faculty bringing varied degrees and backgrounds.
The American Association for State and Local History awarded a Certificate of Commendation to Baytown’s Lee College for Baytown Vignettes. John Britt accepted the honor on behalf of the History and English faculties at the ASA banquet on September 9. The project, a student anthology, was edited by Britt and the late Muriel Tyssen. An autograph party is planned for early November. Webb Society officers for the year are President Michael Brannon and others, with a Fall Convention in Beaumont October 29–30. Lee College’s Texas Faculty Association chapter also announced officers for 93-94.
Lee College Administrative Services officials plan several campus improve ments including a major electrical system overhaul contracted to Wolfenson Electric of Houston. The $122,000 project moves switch gear to ground level as parts are obsolete and the system powers campus computers. Additional items discussed include restrooms in Rundell Hall accessibility, Social Science building repairs, outdoor volleyball court, and parking lot repairs.
