Hail Storm Wipes Westville County Cotton Fields
A severe hail storm near Westville in Kershaw county devastated cotton crops on at least nine farms with seeds scattered and stalks left bare. Fields near Horns Mill and Mr Horton’s area also suffered heavy damage, while local growers face drastic losses. Prof. Nathan Tome to lead Florence graded schools after J L Mann resigns.

Bailey and Davis fight over report leaves Davis stabbed
Wm Bailey and John Davin involved in a Saturday afternoon dispute at Parker place near Foster X Roads over a report about a wife. Bailey drew a knife, cutting Davis in the arm and stabbing him in the breast cavity. A warrant was issued for Bailey who fled after the fight.
