Springfield Republican notes that “Blind Tom” the negro pianist, once thought dead, has reappeared in concert at age 52. Despite long sickness and guardianship by Albert Lerche since 1882, he can still play three airs simultaneously, reproduce notable works from memory, and charm with closed eyes. The piece also touches on his status as a musical oddity and his obscure original compositions.
